A well thought out and fair assessment. Only a delusional fan would think that we aren't outmatched. That holds true for every team in CFB vs Bama. It's going to require uncharacteristic Bama turnovers a broken play or two and Aranda dialing up some defensive wrinkles that Bama hasn't seen.

Within a few weeks of the season playing out it was obvious this year Bama has one of the most dominant offenses they've ever had. Any other season I would give us a solid chance. This year it's going to require the football gods smiling on us to win. I'm not giving in, but I certainly have to give a tip of the cap to Bama's team this season.

Lack of TDs in the redzone may end up being the ultimate killer for the LSU offense this game.

I think this will be one of the biggest keys to the game. We had multiple chances to put the ball in the endzone on both UGA and State and couldn't do it.

it'll be red zone performance that will end up being the determining factor. Of course I could be wrong - I'm no analyst - but that's just what I've seen from the teams.

If LSU can take advantage of RZ opportunities and win TO battle for a short field, it will be a classic LSU/BAMA game.

Oh, absolutely. I still think this game will be the closest game Alabama plays all year, save for MAYBE if we get Michigan in the playoffs. A lot of people think OU can give Alabama a shot, but honestly I think as good as Murray is Alabama would get a couple of INTs against him while OU has practically no prayer of stopping Alabama's offense. It'd be a 70-30 kind of game.

I know, but I think this will skew a bit more in that direction than people think. Once again, I admit I could be wrong.

With turnovers, it is possible there will be more points scored than a "yards surrendered" would otherwise indicate this kind of scoring.

Sounds about right, right now I have it as

Bama
Clemson
Not sure if OSU gets in if they win out?
ND if they win out

We murder ND
Clemson beats OSU

I think Alabama nullifies Clemson's biggest strength (DL) - not entirely, but Alabama's pass protection has been otherworldly this season. Clemson's offense just isn't good enough to compete, and their secondary is nowhere near as good as LSU's. If we have even moderate success against LSU's defensive backfield, I think Tua can throw all over Clemson's. Michigan is the only defense outside of the SEC I think that can truly affect Tua's performance.

I'm looking for Alabama to break tendencies in this one. I think we come out throwing the football, challenging LSU's secondary early and hitting them with underneath routes with the absence of Devin White in the middle to start the game. We will utilize the tight ends early and often. If we have success, and LSU's defense backs off to defend the pass, we will then hit them with a dose of Harris, Harris, and Jacobs.

I agree with this. With White out, everyone is expecting Alabama to run at the LSU defense. That's why they'll throw and test the short passing defense of LSU.

By the 2nd quarter, Alabama will probably run more while White's still out. By the time White gets in, Alabama wants to have a comfortable lead to lessen his impact on the game.

LSU will have to be ready for anything from Alabama to start the game. I'm afraid they're going to bite on the fakes, and get torched underneath - at least at first. Can Aranda make effective enough 1st half adjustments before the game gets out of hand?

Probably, because they'd then have wins over Michigan and Penn State, only one loss, and a B1G championship.

Only threat would be an Oklahoma team that wins out (which would include a revenge win over Texas for the Big 12 championship) and OU's loss (a close one to a ranked Texas team) would be way more excusable than OSU losing by 20 to unranked Purdue. Texas may also have a shot if they win out, but they'd have two wins over Oklahoma.

I disagree. I think putting pressure on Tua is really important to stopping us and I think Clemson might have the best chance of doing that. Pretty sure they have the #1 pass defense according to S&P+.

They also probably have the most balanced offense in the country outside of us and OU. They can throw and have a strong running game. Their QB might not be Tua yet but he's solid and can make some impressive throws.

I also don't think Michigan has the offense to compete with us. Think it would be similar to this game with LSU which I think we win not easily but by a couple scores at least.

Then again, I've been wrong before.
