I have a niece (no pics) in her first year at Bama. Her Auburn parents almost disowned her when she made that decision.

Exactly. Don't come in citing widely known ratings and evaluations while there is a crimson circle jerk going on.

Thanks for the great laugh with the post! Only Bama students think this even though they are at the bottom of income earners compared to the rest of the SEC. It’s all about what hiring managers think. And they obviously don’t think much of Gumpville or Bama students simply can’t accel in their jobs overall. Pick one LOL

I always laugh at people who post things like this. I heard similar things about my alma mater, and I make more than everyone who ever uttered such stupidity to me. No one spouts this nonsense to me about my degree and my choices anymore.

ETA: Just to make it abundantly clear: People like you are losers. Nothing says "uneducated moron" more than spouting "my football team's school has better academics than yours" nonsense.

My school is plenty respected, actually both are. I would not come in and shite on a celebration thread. Of course, my self-worth is not tied to where I went to school.

There are great students at virtually every school, more plentiful at some places. Where you go is what you make of it.

The Ivy League schools are supposed to be the best but they produce a lot of the incompetents infesting our government. However, there are still kids going there that are as brilliant as ever,

Completely unimpressed with everyone I've ever met, professionally, who came from one of these institutions. I'm not sure what they're doing up there.

Unless your kid is from Texas and in the top 6% of his high school graduating class, it is highly unlikely he/she would even sniff getting in.

Wasn’t commenting on the building or infrastructure of the building. It might be beautiful. However, as far as academic bama engineering is below average for a public school in the us

Bama is tied for #93 in engineering schools. I’m not an engineer or a mathematician but that’s below average academically to me.

UAH is more like Auburn than you can imagine. Went my freshman year there. Much more typical of a land grant school except for the lack of an Ag school.

You've got more ties to bama now than most of their fans.

The little dude just brought home an ugly crimson sash which is incredibly beautiful at the same time. He is apparently going to graduate cum laude from Bama in May. Unfricking believable.

Of course, he tells me, “Dad I got this email about some kind of Latin shite, I think it’s a mistake.” (Lol)

Hell, I might have to make an extra contribution to the bama student fund or something this year. How they managed to get him interested in school I will never understand.

Auburn doesn't have enough housing, which was shocking to us. They can't even take a full freshman class on campus.

The college “experience” has changed so much.

When I was at Auburn 40 years ago, we lived in spartan conditions for the most part. Hardly any men lived on campus. Nobody was on a “meal plan.”

In some ways it was a growth experience because you had bills to split with roommates, you had to feed yourself, and everything was not as organized as it is now.

Modern college has become “Club Med with Classes.” The amenities are out of control. I don’t think the costs are sustainable. $30,000 a year for in state?
States need to DOGE their colleges soon.

All 3 of my children graduated from Alabama, had a good College experience, and acquired good jobs. All around an excellent experience. No regrets on their part or their parents.

I only remember non-local freshmen being required to live on-campus and forced to buy a meal plan to help with transitioning. And the meals were awesome. Lakeside and Burke hall had some great food buffett style.

can also tell you from personal experience that Auburn, Texas and unfortunately LSU generally couldn’t care less.

If my kids get scholarships, I’ll be a big fan of those schools, even Alabama.

That being said, it’s completely untrue that Auburn doesn’t value out of state kids. It’s perhaps the #2 school in metro Atlanta. Our Junior is dual enrolled at Auburn and HS.
