My "Verne has lost it" moment came when we played Florida in '09 (frick you Marc Curles!).
Greg Childs caught a pass from Mallett around midfield and proceeded to run ~50 yards to the end zone where he promptly fumbled on the goal line. As they were trying to figure out who had the ball and whether it was an Arkansas touchdown or a Florida touchback, Verne said to Danielson "I believe that'll be ruled an incomplete pass, right Gary?" Keep in mind our receiver had just run 50 yards with the ball in hand. Gary's response was cordial, but you could feel the "WTF?" in his voice.
