The players we have now felt assured that if they simply came to Alabama they would leave with a couple national title rings and be drafted after their junior year.

If that's what was sold to them in coming, then Saban has the team HE built.

geez

So a brick through Saban's window, 15-20 years of probation, and some of you yahoo's committing felonies wearing a RTR cap sideways?

Bammers.

This is what success breeds, an overreaction to every win and loss. We lost to a team that played much better in every phase of the game and still had a chance to win.

I know....it's a 1 score loss. A 1 loss SEC champ is still going to the CFP.

I have a feeling the OP has a trunk full of rocks, headed toward Tuscaloosa.

Not true. We clearly won the officiating.

I know it has been said by everyone already, and in a joking manner mostly, but I really do think Kiffin is the issue. Yeah he's a pretty good offensive coordinator but his personality just doesn't fit in with Saban and his staff and the mentality they are trying to instill.

Haven't read 9 pages but in response to OP-

I understand the frustration bro but get a grip. Bama lost yesterday on the road to a 5 point underdog that is a damn good team and one that was very, very hungry for a W. Much more so than Bama.

In fact I told my friends before the game I expected Bama to lose. And it had nothing to do with players taking selfies.

Did Bama shoot themselves in the foot and create adversity? They sure did. Many times throughout the game. But great teams find a way to win those. Bama ia still a good team this year. They're just not "great".

I'm not ready to jump off any ledges but it is pretty clear there is something missing. That plus the rest of the division is just really good, and so little things equal losses a lot more than they used to.

It is what it is, we had an amazing run of being the big dog but we are now just one of 5 or 6 teams in the league.

I was in school during the Shula era so I know terrible and this isn't it, but I agree that we're not at the same level we were. And maybe that's overreacting but I don't really think so.

Last year was also a rebuilding/down year. When will that process end?

I truly feel that the vast majority of our players really don't give two shits about the University of Alabama. It's a mere stepping stone in their path to guaranteed greatness.

Isn't that pretty much Saban's primary selling point? And, if so, why is such an attitude a surprise?

Auburn takes some grief for the "Family" stuff we pass around but, true or not, it is a great selling point outside of "me me me".

It's my opinion that Saban's biggest asset has also come back to bite him a little bit. He is leaning to heavily on recruiting nationally. That core group of in state players that have been the leaders and backbone of his early teams just seems to be lacking the last 2 years.

No doubt.

Either you're a troll, or just a pathetic excuse of a fan. How did you ever survive the Shula years.

I was a student at Alabama in the Shula years....so alcohol.

Most of you are misinterpreting my post. Alabama is still a top 5 overall program and I would not trade coaches with anyone. However, I do believe we have lost that extra drive and passion that won us 3 titles. I see a collection of 4 and 5 star kids auditioning for the NFL, not a college football team.

Kiffin is the only thing keeping this offense from looking like LSU's right now IMO.

I'd say the majority of the non university attending bama football fanbase is ABSOLUTELY this way as well...so it seems about right.
