“I’m sure they did their due diligence,” Curtis said. “I don’t want to say anything bad, but undoubtedly, he wasn’t their No. 1 choice. But he’s been successful. I guess we will have to wait and find out who he hires.

“I’m sure he will need coach Saban to help him and kind of give him the lay of the land. To me, it’s just kind of surprising to go way out West to get a coach with no real background in this part of the country.”

“I think Alabama fans have to trust the athletic director and the people who made the hire,” Thompson head coach Mark Freeman said. “Let the guy get here and prove himself and see who he puts around him. The alumni and the boosters have to get on board and support him and pray he keeps it going.”

Several prominent Alabama high school football coaches said they also were taking a wait-and-see attitude about DeBoer.

“I think Alabama fans have to trust the athletic director and the people who made the hire,” Thompson head coach Mark Freeman said. “Let the guy get here and prove himself and see who he puts around him. The alumni and the boosters have to get on board and support him and pray he keeps it going.”

I must have missed the “roast” part. Sounds like they were all giving him sound advice.

Man they went in DRY on DeBoer. Read this:

quote:

“With him being out on the West Coast, I know we don’t hear a lot but, watching them play and the things they do offensively, it seems like he’s as good as anyone out there,” Kelly said. “It’s a fun brand of football to watch. I think he will be a guy who will stretch the field, and Alabama has been successful with that lately with Tua (Tagovailoa) and Jalen (Milroe) and other guys. I don’t know him, but I look forward to getting to know him.”

Floyd said he was impressed by DeBoer’s ability to win at every level in which he has coached.

I can't believe the non-Bama fans are just making up stuff to sound like Bama is doing dumb shite.

Spin away. Bama will always be Bama.

Roast is a bit of hyperbole, don’t you think?

It’s the difference in people who can comprehend what they read and your typical Barn fan.

Stidham is taking this hard. Please be mindful to give him some space as he goes through the grieving process.

I got Barn fan friends and Barn fans in my family and we keep it civil. There are more important things than football. And I try not to get involved in any of the caca that goes on around here with Barn and LSU fans, although I am poking the bears a little bit today because I absolutely love this hire and it’s hard not to poke.

Honestly, my feeling about the Barn is something that a national college football writer … can’t remember who it was … said about them years ago on Finebaum, that they should consider an eight or so win season, a top 25 ranking and a decent bowl as a successful season and that nobody outside Lee County, Alabama, seriously thinks they should be a consistent and annual national championship contender.

If they haven’t realized Alabama football is a national brand by now then they are beyond help.

Most of my best friends are Auburn fans. I spent many a weekend at Gintilly trailer park!! One of my best friends dad nicknamed my son “sack” because his name is the same as the Bama qb that got sacked so many times in the IB.
