This isn’t feasible because rankings are subjective. Only answer is reducing scholarships to 65/70 and capping how many staff you can have.

And make scholarships to major universities less available to minority athletes? Good luck.

He gets the #1 rated class almost every year, 9 out of the last 10.

So, shouldn't he win it all almost every year?

If that was all that was required, shouldn't the team with better recruiting classes always win?

How many teams has LSU lost to with worse recruiting classes than they had?

And you only needed two mulligans to accomplish this.

Hiding your head does not change the fact that you needed mulligans because you could not win your own division on the field of play.

Meanwhile Auburn has #42 football class and is clearly now a basketball school that is banned from the tournament.

An unpopular take, but correct

Dynasties are usually bad for pro sports but I feel college sports is the exact opposite. They need dominant teams at the top to draw interest in the sport. Pac-12 football has a lot of parity now and ACC football had a ton of parity before Jimbo and Dabo. Would you say Pac-12 football and ACC football in the mid to late 2000s had a great product that you want to watch? The Pac-12 was a lot more interesting when Pete Carroll at USC and Chip Kelly at Oregon were dominating every year.

I don’t disagree, but what are we/SEC supposed to do? Stop caring? Cap the number of blue chip athletes allowed to sign at a school? Socialize football?

There was an article in USA today about socializing football, because it's not fair Bama is getting all these great players.

frick that shite.

Nothing we can do until Saban retires.

You don't know what a mulligan is, do you?

This.

It's the only thing that will even things out and will eventually happen. They made rule changes because of Bear, they are going to make rule changes because of Saban.

No they won't because (1) as others have said, you aren't going to be able to tell kids where they go to school and (2) there's no objective way to measure a 'blue chip' athletes at the high school level. You going to have the equal to the NFL's combines for every high school player in America?

After 8 really crappy years of football I’m enjoying the hell out of this ride.

And college football has become a regional interest sport as a result. Few people care outside the SEC anymore. I'll still follow it because I grew up in the state of Alabama and I'm a sucker for it, but there's a reason tv ratings are plummeting.

There are a variety of reasons for it, but "competitiveness" and parity are not the primary factors for the declining interest in football at all levels.

TV ratings are plummeting for all sports. Sports peaked 5 years ago.

I've been a firm believer that having the SEC of CBS has been a blessing as far as getting our brand across the country. Having to listen to Danielson is another subject altogether. In a couple of years, that too will be no more and once again ESPN will just about have all sports as their captive audience.

With so many cutting the cable and so anti-ESPN these days the CBS telecast has been refreshing. Hate to see it go. Just not Danielson, but I regress.

Yet, if Bama were to have a 9 or 10 win season this year in spite of all of the staff and talent turnover, it will be the start of the decline all over again and return of the "Saban has lost it" crowd from some Bama fans.

2020 is certain to be a step back from one of the best CFB seasons of all time, certainly the best within UA football history. But, Saban will have them in position to compete and compete well.

That said, 2022 and 2023 are looking like really special years as the staff gets one to two seasons under its belt and the talent in these last couple of classes develops.

The Bama dynasty stays for as long as the top talent stays. I have to admit I was getting a little antsy that it has been 3 years since 2nd and 26. This has happened before during the coach Saban era after back to back NCs in '11' and '12' and having to wait till 2015 to enjoy another title. Let's all hope we don't have to wait so long for the next big celebration in BamaLand.

You sound like a sore loser. Do I hate losing to them? Yes but when we are able to actually beat them it’s even sweeter. It makes better competition. I knew we’d win the national title the moment we took them down in November.
