This Saturday will be the first time since then that Alabama will have played a game in the regular season without having a chance at winning the national title.

It started with LSU providing the platform for Saban to evolve into what he is now, so it's only fitting to end with LSU as well...

Going further back, this weekend's game will be only the 7th "meaningless" game from an NC perspective, regular season or postseason, that Bama has played since the 2007 Music City Bowl vs Okie State:
1. 2008 vs Utah (Sugar Bowl)
2. 2010 vs MSU
3. 2010 vs GA State
4. 2010 vs Auburn
5. 2010 vs Michigan State (Cap One Bowl)
6. 2019 vs Michigan (Citrus Bowl)

I mean yes in retrospect, but in 2011, Bama and pretty much everyone thought they were out of the race and played all games after LSU with no chance at the national title. Kind of like right now.
There is a super long shot they could still get there(like in 2011) and if anyone gets mulligans, we know it is Bama.

I could have sworn in 2019 Bama fans said they lost the Iron Bowl because they didn’t have a shot at the playoffs.
