1. Aranda - known to them, helped them secure a NC. Seems to be doing OK in his current role.

2. Tucker - Heck of a coach and a motivator. He was at Bama and is a Saban disciple. Know what it takes to win. I think he offers an excellent chance to be a dominant force in the SEC if he was at LSU, much more so than others

3. Kiffin, not likely but would be entertaining, plus it would give him the opportunity to have sampled college co-ed poon from almost every corner of the SEC footprint. I don't think he would have nay more success than he is having at Ole Miss, which is impressive, but he is not going to win a NC with gimmicks unless he is restrained by a head coach to occasionally bring him back into reality.

So basically, two guys had a crack at the job before it was ever offered to Saban.

I actually forgot about Spurrier being in the conversation. Obviously they spoke, but Spurrier himself has stated that he was never offered the job.

Reading your comment again, I see you were talking about Rich Rod turning down the job, which is true regarding the timing on Saban.

I initially thought you were inferring that Saban wasn't a top choice.

You seem like some sort of expert on Bama football. Sure you aren't a fan?

Not an Alabama fan but I have a great name for LSU. This guy is the master of turn arounds. He has won conference championships. Directed undefeated seasons. Big bonus is he wouldn't have to move far.

Terry Bowden. They will get close look at him in a couple of weeks. Took a team that was 0-10 last year (would have been 0-12 without covid cancellations) and has them sitting at 4-4 with wins over LSU's rival Troy along with improving South Alabama and Liberty.

He knows how to win in the SEC and lead great comebacks. His masterful planning makes teams do totally irrational things like throw interceptions while they are way ahead.

Got for it LSU.

Just depends on who they're playing.

LSU will get it right this time mainly due to timing. With OU and UT joining the SEC, league openings are now considered the best coaching jobs next to the NFL. You have other P5 HCs who will now consider jobs that were believed to be lateral moves a year ago.

That has absolutely nothing to do with anything. What a dumb statement.

Are you sure? The last time yall went down that road it led to a coach who was worse than Orgeron.

It has everything to do with any openings in the SEC dumbass. Coaches want to go to programs with resources, recruiting potential and League affiliation. Now the SEC is the Elite Conference and really the only one in the discussion, every opening will be able to attract the top coaches. That is something you couldn't say 5 years ago.
