have a hard time believing Bama has less money than LSU and we seem to be doing OK in NIL.
It’s not an excuse. He’s speaking in future terms. Bama signed two top 5 classes since DeBoer took over. It’s not talent and you are correct Alabama, LSU Ole Miss and many others are in that same realm of NIL. It’s going to catch up to all of us in the next five years or so. These schools simply won’t be able to compete with Texas, Ohio State or Michigan and many others. This is why I’ve been against unrestrained NIL.

247 Blue Chip ratio has Bama at 89% for this 2025 roster. That means 75 players of their 85 are 4 or 5 star players. I don't know what AJ McCarron is saying. The roster has talent, the same 247 blue chip ratio that was used when Saban was coaching and signing talent is the same one now. And LSU is pretty solid on the Blue chip ratio as well, we are at 73% which is good but that is not 89% that Bama and Ohio State (also 89%) are at. UGA is 84% and Aggie is at 82%, only 4 schools over 80%. Only 5 schools are over 70%, Texas and Oregon both 78%, LSU and Notre Dame both 73% and Oklahoma at 70%.
The data over a long time series indicates that a ratio of 50% or greater is what is needed to win the Title. Penn State, Miami, Florida, Auburn, Michigan, USC, Clemson, Tennessee and Florida State range from 54% (FSU) to 69% (Penn State).
So there is nothing wrong with Bama's roster. Sorry AJ, not buying that one.

Good luck cashing in with ticket sales and donations from them.
There was a sizable waiting list for Tide Pride even back during the Shula and Dubose years. I can’t even imagine how long it is now.

Sounds like a sorry excuse to me.

When 60% of your student body is from the Northeast and go straight back to their home state after graduating, chances are pretty high that most of them won’t give back to the university.

They could have 20 billion and if it only goes to players they won’t do shite with this coaching staff
They swung for the fences, they missed, and now they’re trapped with this guy 3 more seasons minimum after this.
Then they have to hope their replacement builds back Bama which will take several seasons if it goes well.

Are you sure? They spent $10 million in NIL this season on just their offensive line and quarterback.
Those are amateur numbers you poor!

That fortune has been split up now, and half that family is Auburn people. A huge new building is being built on Auburn's campus with his sister's name on it.

I linked it in another thread, but Bama was 12th in the nation for NIL money, at the start of last season. LSU was 7th.
That link was useless as it relates to NIL. NIL numbers aren’t published by any school, as far as I can tell. Anything you see written is just a wild arse guess - maybe educated, maybe not.
Here’s how the list you linked was derived:

Which universities have the most generous athletics boosters?
According to total cumulative “donations and contributions” findings from 2005 through the end of the 2022 season via USA Today and the Knight Commission, programs who receive the most donor funs tend to have a heightened advantage against others through recruiting success, coaching prestige, facility enhancements and other upgrades.
In other words, a wild arse guess, and it doesn’t appear to be a very good one - as they ranked Auburn ahead of Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, etc. The list also ranks Florida State, who just downsized their stadium, ahead of Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee, Michigan, etc.

maybe deboar needs to do what Brian kelly did and Jumpstart their nil for the year and match up to 1 million in fan donations. Just that move alone resulted in over 10 million in donations.
I dont think theres a coach in the nation that wants to win a national championship more than bk and I know theres not a coach out there that needs one more than him to cement his legacy. he has to be ,by far ,the most winningest coach ever without a natty

Has Saban ever donated to Bama? If so, it might unironically be him

They need to spend a little on retention. But then they probably wouldn’t always sign the top HS class
^^^This.
Why spend your NIL on the top class? Spend on transfers who have proven it against good competition.
Seems to be what the the others are doing.

I listen to a Bama talk show and they always have the Bama NIL guy on pleading for money or charity events coming up
He’s always saying despite public perception, Bama is not playing in the sand box with the big spenders
They are still getting a kiss from the Saban era and with their facilities. That is fading every year

I’m pretty sure McTatt was saying that, going forward, the talent gap between bamma and everyone else will close, then even, then reverse, then the reverse will widen, and they’ll be mid pack losers because they can no longer maintain the advantage.
And, he’s right.
