Damn I thought he was talking about "eye of the Tiger". I heard Miss State's band playing it yesterday.

In all honesty the SEC Network will make enough money that the league should just allocate funds to bring every SEC band to all games. Then have a show later in the week that highlights every schools performance so eventually band kids would want to go to SEC schools b/c they know their performances will be on TV. The pageantry of college football is what makes it special and the SEC has some of the best traditions in the land. All aspects of the SEC experience should get focus in the programming to cast as wide a net as possible when searching for eyeballs.

We'll let you focus on those kind of recruits while we load up on metroplex DT, DL, and LBs

Sorry for wanting every kind of student and their families to be interested in attending SEC schools. Didn't realize a focus on growing the brand by using all available assets was considered lame by the super cool kids here..

It isn't just the Ags. There is some SEC rule that doesn't allow a full band to travel to more than 2 conference games.

This is completely false. There is no such rule. It comes down to $$$ as it always does.

Texas A&M needs to get with the program now that they're in the SEC. There is no shame in sending one bus of 50 bandmembers to an away game. No, they obviously will not march on the field.

When I was in the Aggie Band we went to every away game but one. We do not send a pep band. It is the entire band or upperclassmen which is still 275 to 300 who will perform a halftime drill. Travel expenses are huge for that many people.

A&M certainly could afford to send a pep band, it's just not what we do. At a minimum we send all upperclassmen and do a full halftime show. Our band is unique and we give a special performance unlike any other in CFB, it's all or none with us.

I think he is just trying to come up with a reason of why UGA is being a bunch of cheap asses themselves. Brought pep bands the last 2 times they've been to Columbia.

Sorry. Our band is special. Starkville will see it once deemed worthy. Until then, DWI.

The MDB took the full band to UF, UT, and LSU in 2006.

Actually, it is one of the most traveled bands in the nation, and it is a myth that SEC schools always send their bands to SEC games, with most sending a their "marching band" to a few games and a pep band to the rest. The Aggie Band traveled to SMU, LaTech, Ole Miss and is going to Bama. That is 4 away games this year, at over $500,000 per trip (It takes a minimum of 12 busses to move the band, plus equipment trucks, plus hotel rooms, plus food, away practice fields, etc). Since the band practices in excess of 30 hours for each drill, and members have to spend additional time at mandatory Corps functions (all band members are in the Corps), the band years ago determined that more than 4 away games a year takes too much time from cadets academics (a bus move normally starts right after Friday practice, with departure at midnight, all night travel, short hotel stop, movement to practice field, movement to game, back to hotel and travel all day Sunday to College Station).

And, visiting teams rarely bring their bands to A&M home games, we have yet to see an SEC band at Kyle, so saying the Aggie Band does not travel is sort of a wierd comment from an SEC fan.

A FULL sec band. I think they all(?) brought a small contingent, but none have performed that I know of.

Did Florida send a pep band? I don't remember one.

Arky and LSU sent pep bands. Kind of surprised LSU didn't send the whole band.

I was also disappointed LSU just sent a small band that didn't perform. I mean it's not THAT far to BR. A&M will almost certainly bring the full band (perhaps not Freshman) to BR next year as well as Arkie. Don't know if they go to Ole Miss 2 years in a row or Mizzou.

Pep bands are lame honestly. As an Aggie our entire purpose for sending a band to a game is to showcase it for the visitors. We want to give them a real show that is memorable. I would highly encourage any Bama folks not to go grab a drink or hot dog when the FTAB comes out to perform as it is truly a unique show and with it being this far into the season the shows get more and more complex and interesting to see. Since this is A&M's 3rd straight road game and the band didn't travel for the last 2 that means they have had 3 weeks to prepare the drill as well so you may get something special like the 4 way cross.

Fightin' Texas Aggie Band runs 350-400 members and as stated before either they all go or none go. There has been a significant push to establish an endowment that would allow travel to all games.

hope so. Aggie Band is AWESOME to watch!! Only band that's better is TGBFTL (course I may be a little biased :)). Seriously, used to love watching them when I was in Tiger Band from 69-73 and a went to the Oklahoma-aTm game in Norman with a friend of mine a couple of years back, and that was one of the highlights of the game for me.
