Yes we are. Unfortunately that's just how the main board is always going to be.

You do realize we're coming from a conference that had far less traveling fans, correct?

Yes, but it doesn't change the situation as is.

I already did. My eyes were watering pretty badly.

...will invalidate many, but not all, of the points I made as to why Tiger Stadium is better. But we're talking about now, and RIGHT NOW Tiger Stadium seats more people, in far greater comfort, and that isn't open for debate.

I love facility smack threads, as you can tell.

To be honest, I think Bryant-Denny is the best looking stadium in the conference

Absolutely. Bryant-Denny is beautiful.

Kyle Field and Death Valley will both always be ugly and disjointed. But they're also both very unique and both fanbases love them. Probably the two most unique stadiums in CFB the way they are all jumbled together.

Hey thanks for the banter while I was at work

They've got some big cranes inside Kyle right now. Looks like they're assembling another huge crane. They'll need all of them to have the stadium in order by September.

Yep. Took some brass balls to even try and pull off what they are trying to pull off. Hope it doesn't blow up in our face.

Next offseason will be just as, if not more, ambitious. The entire west side is going to be demolished and rebuilt.

I wonder if the full demo and cleanup will be quicker than what weve seen on the east side.

This is not to say the East side isn't moving damned fast because it is.

They're going to have to pick up the pace for sure. It looks like most of the new structure is steel or pre poured concrete so that should help with the time frame.

I think once it starts going up, it will go up fast. The problem will be getting things finished out in time. Finish-out is a long process. I am confident there will be fairly significant complications this Fall.

It's an amazing project. I really enjoy watching big projects from the ground up like this one. Can't wait to see the finished product in a few years.

there's not a doubt in my mind that there will be workers on site well into next year doing finishing work.

LSU1NSEC, according to this link, Populous isn't just the project architect, they're also engineering it.

For sure, TideJoe. Something tells me this language from the FAQs on the Kyle Field Redevelopment page may come into play:
quote:

What happens if the planned phase is not complete in time for the 2014 or 2015 season?

Contingency plans are in place to accommodate fans in case construction timelines are not met, or if unexpected circumstances prevent the completion of certain areas.

Remember, this is the "off-season" for construction too. Things don't start picking up until May-June when the weather and light conditions allow for longer hours and more work. By then, this thing should be well underway, but I could see the first few games being put under "contingency" until construction is complete. That's just the price we have to pay to get this thing done.

I heard that when the worker died in December it really pushed the schedule back. OSHA came in and shut the place down for a few weeks.

Weather has not been favorable.

I would imagine they need the concrete to set ASAP in order to prep for the load it will take.

I have money on people being displaced into October.

But still an incredible feat to completely change the stadium in under a year.

Texas workforce is not one to
Mess around with.

We've also had the wettest winter I can remember.

But yeah, when they aren't being slowed down by the rain or having to take a week+ to assemble a giant crane, they move really fast with the steel since it is all pre-cut and ready to put installed. They erected all the steel you see between thr SE tower and the beginnings of the new south first deck in about 3 days. It wasn't there one day and then the next - wham - steel jungle.

A great point, KaiserSoze99. We'll see how rainy the spring/summer are ….

cjared036, I hadn't heard that, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Sounds like you have more info than I do (I'm not remotely close to the construction industry). Going to be interesting to see how it unfolds.

You guys (as fans) just need to adopt the official slogan of the Tiger Rant:
