I think this is the bigger story of the championship game. LSU defense was underestimated and not talked about very much.

I never had doubt LSU and Burrow was going to put up the offense, but could the LSU D stop Clemson?

LSU D played a hell of a game and shut down a very talented offense.

That is unreal. Great in game adjustments by LSU. That’s domination

LSU Defense over the last 5 games
Total Defense: 295.0 (would rank 8th in FBS over the course of a full season)
Points per Game: 18.0 (would rank 13th in FBS over the course of a full season)
Yards per Play: 4.52 (would rank 5th in FBS over the course of a full season)

-Oklahoma entered Bowl Season as the #2 offense (LSU held them 232 yards below season average).
-Clemson entered Bowl Season as the #3 offense. (LSU held them 153 yards below season average)

There was a nice article on Aranda and the game and bottomline was: we decided to do what we do best and it stopped Clemson. Early on, we didn't do that, failed to execute and got beat

Yep, and yet they were not given the credit they deserved going into the NC game.

History and the NFL draft will be very kind to the 2019 LSU defense.

The ring on their finger and the stats line has already taken care of that.

Most shite on group of guys in all of college football this year by talking heads, after fast white boy ran on them at Ole Miss for some garbage yards. Nevermind they just beat Bama after 9 years of being dominated, had a few players nicked and they were up by 3-4 scores.

The nat media trying to act like the LSU defense wasn’t littered with goons was just silly

And 3 of the last 5 games we played 3 top 4 teams.

Texas A&M was the only real cream puff. Even Arkansas put up more of a fight.

Because giving up 44 points to Clemson, 46 to LSU and 48 to Auburn is defensive domination personified.

Your usual corner is waiting, along with the seat and the DUNCE cap.

To me the flip side is also entertaining. Clemson ranters bragged about their top rated defense, YPG and points surrendered, and the national media ran with it. These stats were based on playing ACC offenses. They faced only one team with an above average offense: LSU. And came within a dropped gimmie TD catch, a bonked FG, and a no kneel inside the 5 yard line producing TD from giving up 59 points. And FWIW, Burrow would have put 70 on UNC.

Combined passing stats of the last four QBs, Mond, Fromm, Hurts and Lawrence.

63 of 140 for a completion % of 45%.
768 total yards for an average of 192 yards per game
1 passing TD for an average of .25 per game
6 Ints averaging 1.25 per game.

Yeah it looks like our defense struggled.
