To be fair, Deloss Dodds the Texas AD is definitely enough of a butthurt assclown that he would pull something like that.

That said, I have no idea if there was in fact a second gunman on the grassy knoll here or if its just whacked out Aggie paranoia. But if it turned out to be true I wouldn't be all that shocked either.

I'm not sure if I've seen such a thorough thrashing since I've been here.

Just....damn.

I would. I mean I am not privy to how the teasips have operated in the past in regards to NCAA control, even though it is supposedly very deep and almost ludicrous, but I don't know why they would waste their time. Now could it be one butthurt rogue booster? Yeah maybe, but I don't think institutionally they would do something so stupid.

Didn't rogue boosters set up that billboard in Florida?

Yeah I doubt if they have anything to do with this on an official level. They have a lot bigger messes to worry about in their own house.

Meh, they got bigger problems.

Its fun to make it into a bigger deal though. When I talk about it locally in Austin, I say that Texas rules the media and they are trying to make us the next SMU as punishment for the SEC move. But to their horror unlike last time with SMU an even more powerful entity (either Slive or Bama) struck down the sources for the reporters thereby cutting off Texas's power. Now Texas must fight back a SEC-powered Aggie invasion of their traditional turf without any of the weapons that won their previous battles.

Or at least that is how my version of Texas Game of Thrones goes...

I posted this in the 300 page thread, but it probably deserves its own thread.

As likely as not it was an investigative journalist or blogger trying to dig into the meta-story.

Unlikely, considering that it asked for information about a specific student, which would more likely than not be bounced by Texas due to privacy concerns. An investigative journalist would be well aware of this.

If whoever submitted it was a journalist, then they're a rank amateur. A more likely explanation is that it was an individual aiming for a "gotcha."

Maybe. I mean kids fresh out of college working in small podunks towns for the local paper file FOIA requests all the fricking time. It isn't like they necessarily have a giant rule book telling them how to report it correctly. My old college roommate did this all the time as a sports journalist, and he's a bumbling moron whose comprehension of the law is next to nothing.

The FOIA request was about correspondence from the athletic department to ESPN concerning Manziel. That's a lot different than requesting private personal information about Manziel, which they shouldn't have because he has never attended Texas. I only did the barest of research into FOIA requests, so I could be wrong, but I didn't find anything that said they would legally be unable to release those documents due to privacy concerns.
