Gave up an average of 25 ppg to SEC opponents and 34 ppg to SEC opponents with winning records.

And throw in that teams like Ole Miss and South Carolina ran up and down the field on them. South Carolina QB in his first start threw for over 300 yards.

How is that compared to 2018 and 2014?

What about 36-0 the year before? Do you remember Saban doing that to the best qb of all time, JoeJoe Burrow ?

Bryant will always be the hallowed greatest at Bama. However,w/o that foundation of $$ & tradition, nothing like what is in place would be possible. Besides the victories and NC's, he will be remembered as an unsurpassed football game changer. His work ethic and analytics are the cornerstone of said game changes.

Nick Saban was always known as the defense/smash mouth football guy....but at the end of the day, will that be the case?
To me, Nick Saban is the super-structured, almost OCD, borderline autistic coach "with a plan".

He's been meticulous, focused on every detail, preparing for everything he can, and wants to limit variables as much as possible. Everything he's done in football has centered on that, and he's always been that way. He's maybe the best ever at maximizing the percentages in his favor.
With regard to offensive philosophy, I think it's more about TRUST and doing what HE wants, and not necessarily about being conservative. He wants to run a play, and the player performs as it is drawn up. He loved Tua, and suspect he would have loved Burrow; but Manziel would have given him a heart attack. That's because Tua and Burrow would run the play, and decisively throw to the most effective target to move the ball as designed. Manziel ran around and made chaos, and then took advantage (Littlefinger).

That's how I view him now, and how I will remember him.

He melts down when he can't control things. With the Dolphins, it was player management and dealing with pro diva mentality; in games it's been defending HUNH offenses.
I imagine with running a program, his stipulation is running a program. He probably didn't get full control at Michigan State, and chafed at the AD's limits.
At LSU Mark Emmert gave him everything he wanted. At Alabama I assume the same. If/when he spoke to Texas, he probably took one look at the booster influences and said "not a chance".

Which was the reason why I was a little nervous with Paul Bryant Jr. still behind the scenes in T-town when Saban was hired.

PBJ and Bama's BOTs have been much more "hands-off" than most realize. PBJ has rarely or never been an issue. If anything he and the BOTs have been too nonchalant. Some boosters have been a different story in the past but not with Saban. He got everything he wanted in that regard.

How’s the golf swing rubble?

I've gone from 2-3x per week at the range or course to once every 10-14 days- so it's not really getting better but not really getting worse. The good swings are good and the bad swings are bad, inconsistency is the nightmare right now. PB is 86 from the whites.

Playing in a charity scramble next saturday so I'll try to get a few rounds in between now and then.

The guy that spent the most on recruits- $, jobs for parents, Dodge Chargers, and free clothes from T Town Menswear.

Not to mention making grown men look like fools every spring during The Running of The Gumps.

From 2009 on, if you played a Saban Alabama team there was no room for error. You can count on one hand the amount of times they were beaten convincingly and 2 of those were throwaway bowl games.

One of the last of old school coaches.

College football will become weaker as these coaches pass.

In reality , Saban was only moderately successful when he did not have superior talent

As the greatest college football coach of all-time. He dominated recruiting (the most important part of college coaching by far) like no coach ever has.
