You guys seriously don't understand how stupid and childish you look spelling Saban that way. It isn't edgy or funny. It just isn't a good look bro.

Will be looked upon as the GOAT solely because he could out-recruit his peers and defeat them handily imo

When a coach's talent level matches Saban (unless you're Kirby), he struggles to win. Evidence: Dabo and Orgeron

Joe Burrow neutering his defense is how ill remember him.

That's not saying much regarding the 2019 defense. Bo Nix also neutered it. Think about that for a minute.

“Nick Saban ran a championship program by recruiting elite athletes and teaching them how to make plays in a complex system. He developed 5 star athletes, but also had walkons contribute to his success as a coach. He was the best at teaching all of the nuances of formations and how to attack and defend them. His only weakness was not being able to find reliable place kickers consistently. Coach Saban was the best talent evaluator in college football history. He delivered consistent results by competing for championships year after year with adjustments to his famed process which included advancing the offense to score more points rapidly and adjusting the defense to defend spread concepts. In short, Coach Nick Saban is on the Mount Rushmore of college football coaches.”

Just about every QB who was capable of completing a forward pass managed to neuter it. So congrats to Joe Burrow for doing what 10 out of 13 schools on our schedule managed to do to our defense last season.

15/30, 173 yards, 1 touchdown
That defense wasn't as bad as some like to pretend

It was, statistically speaking, the worst defense Alabama has had under Saban since 2007. And you can't just look at Nix's raw numbers from that game to conclude what he did or didn't do that night. Many of those 15 completions were clutch throws on third down that kept Auburn drives alive. We could not get them off the field at crucial points in the game and that's why Auburn eventually ended up winning.

2019 Alabama opponents only averaged 193.5 passing yards per game, you take LSU out and Alabama is top 10 in pass defense in the country.

He has a winning record against both of those guys and ran Urban Meyer out of the conference. He has a winning record against Mark Richt and Les Miles who also had a load of talent.

Tell me what you think the word "struggle" means

I guess although there wasn't a huge difference in points allowed compared to some prior years.

Opponents Points Per Game

2014: 18.4
2018: 18.1
2019: 18.6

You have to realize Alabama fielded a #1 defense in most every defensive category for a decade. The 2019 defense was still ranked well nationally, but was light years behind previous versions. It has been a hard pill to swallow for fans. I try to keep it realistic, but I struggle with the defensive direction as well. It has been Alabama’s identity forever.

I'd say it had more to do with your quarterback throwing two pick sixes, your defense played good enough to win.

A question about the way Nick Saban will be remembered
“Nick Saban, that midget in the blue suit from the commercial with that duck”

Glass half full and all that. The non-pessimistic view might be:

"Nick Saban, who parlayed his coaching career into a multi-million dollar endorsement career, allowing to him to donate significantly to various charity organizations including children's advocacy groups."

Throw out the two pick sixes and you still are left with 34 points the defense allowed Auburn to score on them.
