I recall a lot of preseason #1 love and heisman chatter. The hype train was full steam ahead.

That was a big mistake. We should have taken Virginia Tech and NC State instead.

Probably would have led to more wins for you.
But then OU and TX would have went to the Big 1G and then the Big would really be a monster. Nobody wanted to see that.

Some fanbases (UTranny and Aggy) resort to cherry picking regular season wins while some (LSU) simply point to national titles.

Bragging about regular season wins while not winning nattys. This is what A&M does, I guess its a Texas thing. Gotta win the ones that matter.
Talking men's big 3 sports, the state of Texas last one a national championship in basketball with Baylor winning in 2021. Before that was the UT football team in 2005, over 20 years ago. When talking championship level athletic programs programs, the entire state of Texas should not be in the conversation - in sports that matter, no one here is talking about women's golf, and the underwater basket weaving teams, except maybe UT fans.

What??? Do the Aggies or UT either have a national championship in football in the last 20 year? No. LSU football has 2. LSU baseball has 3. I would take the up and down roller coaster seasons sprinkled with nattys over a huge Goose egg 0 nattys. All this bragging, and nothing to show for it(except printed cups)
Don't take this as me saying LSU is has been lighting it up the last few years in football, and just this past season in baseball. But lets not pretend that either UT or A&M has "cooked" in quite some time in football and baseball.
