Ole Miss probably plays the most unforgiving schedule in the country. Of the four series left, at least the two premier ones will be played at Swayze. The Rebels should probably handle the road series

Not really. Their SOS is currently #22. There are eight SEC teams ahead of them in SOS rankings.

Good teams win no matter how hard their schedule is or isn’t. Going into SEC play we were hyped as a national seed and on paper we should be so the tough schedule thing or injuries isn’t an excuse. We just lost to a 4-11 LSU team at home on a weekend we had to win. This team is bad until they prove to us they are good. We haven’t beaten a good team 2/3 yet this year.

Pretty interesting looking at the remaining conference schedules for the ranked teams. Still a lot to shake out in the conference standings.

Arkansas - @LSU, Georgia, @Tennessee, Florida
Vanderbilt - @Florida, Alabama, @Ole Miss, Kentucky
Tennessee - Kentucky, @Missouri, Arkansas, @South Carolina
Miss. State - A&M, @South Carolina, Missouri, @Alabama
South Carolina - @Ole Miss, Miss. State, @Kentucky, Tennessee
Florida - Vanderbilt, @Kentucky, Georgia, @Arkansas
Ole Miss - South Carolina, @A&M, Vanderbilt, @Georgia
Georgia - Auburn, @Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss

The most frustrating thing about Ole Miss is our starting pitching has been dominant for 2/3 games each weekend, and our hitting is also really solid despite the lack of HRs (before this LSU weekend). We are just missing bullpen. We are one piece away from being an elite team. Even our best closer who led the league in saves fell apart with a 2 run lead this weekend. I think it's mental. The talent is there for us to be winning these games. Maybe itll click in time, who knows.

I guess. But they still have Vandy and South Carolina on the horizon and two road series, one of which is against a ranked team. I think they'll be fine.

Not sure how many consecutive series Ole Miss needs to lose to drop out of the rankings.

Combined SEC records of remaining conference schedule:

Arkansas - 38-34
Vanderbilt - 38-34
Tennessee - 38-34
Miss. St. - 29-43
South Carolina - 42-30
Florida - 44-28
Ole Miss - 38-34
Georgia - 37-34

By the numbers, among ranked SEC teams, Mississippi State has the easiest remaining conference schedule, and Florida has the hardest. Fairly even everywhere else.

Notably, Kentucky's remaining schedule (@Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, @Vanderbilt) would be the toughest, as those schools have a combined conference record of 47-25.

Arkansas has one of those teams this year. You watch us play and say "well they could do better at this, or they really need to work on that" and then we go out and whip a top 5 team at their home stadium and keep rolling along.

And surely LSU has the easiest schedule left with series against Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, and A&M. We had to have had the most brutal SEC schedule thus far. Very front loaded schedule this year for LSU.

Not sure what the downvotes are for. LSU currently has the #1 SOS in college baseball and haven't had a very strong OOC slate. They've already played 5 series against top 10 RPI teams as well as Ole Miss who is current #15. So all 6 SEC series have been against that group of teams. And that will only get tougher with Arkansas this weekend. Then, they end the season with the bottom of the SEC

Scoring 9 runs a game and leading the nation in home runs certainly helps mask issues Arkansas may have in their pitching staff. When you can hit like that, you're never really out of any games

I'm equally impressed by our walks per game, which we also lead the nation in. It's one thing to hit a lot of taters, but if you are also getting runners on base (via walks), you give yourself more chances to push runners across home plate.

Yeah y'alls team OBP% being over .400 is definitely salty. And what's nuts is Arkansas leads the nation in homeruns but no one on the team has more than 10. Everyone in your lineup can hit.
