Also speaking of the topic in the OP, Herschel might have actually saved a person's life during his career as well:

Roy Upchurch is up there with this one.

Meh it’s certainly better than Ronnie Brown’s run. It’s a tossup vs Fournette I’ll admit...that was pretty nasty.

I mean an Auburn fan was the first person to try and “one up” the OP...but of course you get butt hurt when a Bama fan does the exact same thing. Typical. The irony is strong.

Watching Earl Campbell video makes me realize how basic blocking by O lineman has deteriorated over the years. He was an amazing back, but His linemen were amazing at sustaining blocks on the LOS and blocking downfield. A lost art.

I am not being an arse. Herschel Walker was our hero as kids growing up playing back yard football. We all argued about who would be Hershel but it’s amazing how much slower these guys look than the kids today. They looked so fast when we were kids. The athletes today are just so unbelievable.

You must be talking about everyone besides HW.
He ran 10.23 at 220 lbs.

Fournettes was much better against that A&M defender
Are we forgetting what LF did to that Ole Miss CB the night he had 280+ on 16 carries.

And Billy Bates uttered the famous words "what's that comin' down the track."

What's amazing about it was that Bates wasn't no bitch. Bates was a legit player and Herschel just ran him over.

No irony, other fans do not jump in EVERY time like Alabama fans do. Alabama fans ALWAYS have to one-up everyone and never accept that any other SEC school may have great moments.

Georgia State just killed that same program.

Bill bates turned out to be an excellent pro....and he was broken down and ready for Herschel and still got trucked. Walker was a man among boys at that time.
Think.....Herschel and Bo played at the same time in the SEC. (A year apart, I think)

I know thats a famous play for running over bill bates and all and it was a great play but there have been so many more violent looking ones since then, i wonder why that one has stood the test of time. Leonard Fournette had some great ones against Auburn and A&M just a few years ago.
Several things made Herschel's better....not the least of which is that he was a true freshman at the time.
(not sure what year Brown or Fournette was in, though)
