Watching Earl Campbell video makes me realize how basic blocking by O lineman has deteriorated over the years. He was an amazing back, but His linemen were amazing at sustaining blocks on the LOS and blocking downfield. A lost art.
This ^^^^^^^
I would also add...I hate Zone Blocking.

Oh look. An LSU fan trying to make a thread that has nothing to do with them about LSU.
Shocker.
Shocker.

Think.....Herschel and Bo played at the same time in the SEC. (A year apart, I think)
They were born in the same year but 9 months apart. Bo's freshman season of 1982 was Herschel's junior (and last) season as he only played 3 years before turning pro. So they only played 1 year of college at the same time.

i wonder why that one has stood the test of time
Because it was Herschel Walker, a true freshman, in his first game against a future All-Pro safety who was coming off of a brilliant freshman campaign himself. This was Walker's coming out party.

I worked briefly with former UK defensive end Don Roe (his son pitches for the Rays). His biggest claim to fame as a player was recording a solo tackle against Herschel. He said when his face mask made contact with Walker’s thigh it was like running face first into concrete.

Hey, choose a better wording header next time, please!

At least Bates and Allen took it like men instead of that fig for Auburn in '15 that paused and let Fournette go by him and then jumped on his back.
We were able to get the thug out of trigga tray, just not the pussy uga instilled in him. Not enough time.

I don't remember many players who had solo tackles vs Herschel. And I'd bet there were none from the front. You can't tackle knees, shoulder pads, and a helmet.

I was there, happened on my end. Saw Bates laying on the ground like he was dead.

I don’t find that run so amazing.
Even I could run over a man standing still with poor pad level.
