1. No one I know of was suspended for the opener first time in decades. (Maybe I missed someone)
2. Our running game, at least for the moment, looked harmless
3. Tight ends and receivers are deep and talented for a change (Though we’ve had good tight ends lately, just rarely used)

Our defense played lights out until our lack of depth (we go one deep folks) killed us.

I wasn't expecting the second coming of Brandon Allen but Franks got rattled early and didn't impress much.

The quintuple reverse inside our own 10 shocked me. Not in a good way either.

1. Shocked how much Trask improved certain parts. His pocket presence and awareness was a lot better, and most importantly he is not scared to throw it to his big receivers and let them make plays even when not open. Something that Burrow did a ton of last year.

2. Shocked that Toney looked as good as he did at WR. Hands improved and his route running was far more crisp.

3. Shocked at how poor our tackling was for the third straight year for the first game. We have to figure that out next offseason. Cant keep coming out tackling at a poor level

that first interception where they said his arm got hit was 6 for your receiver. I wasn’t impressed with our DBs (one of them is a damn walk on lmao)

The only good thing about this, is this year the SEC isn’t really that stacked at QB.

Georgia and Alabama will be tough for us.

Arkansas
Missouri
Vandy
Kentucky
A&M

Should all be wins. None have very good QBs.

Auburn is a toss up. So is Ole Miss because they had a good pass game and that one will be a shootout.

That was clear from his post game interview where he specifically said he kept seeing state defenders in his designed passing lanes which is why he hesitated so much, yet you could see almost 2 maybe even 3 guys running wide open outside the hashes pretty often

Sign of good coaching. Using strategy to make up for lack of talent

How did Shavers do? I was surprised to see him leave Alabama after he was slated to be a big part of the offense this year. Looks like the transfer is working out for him.

Shocked out bad our secondary was.

Shocked we couldn't get much going on the ground.

Shocked 34 points against State didn't put a W on the schedule.

Good for him. He's a talented receiver and I hated to see him leave. Frankly, his departure surprised me because there is a huge drop off after Smith and Waddle. Next is Metchie and then nobody. Saturday, a bulk of the receptions were made by Waddle and Smith with John Metchie catching two maybe three passes. After those mentioned, no wide receivers caught passes.

I was shocked Gus NEVER once had they play sheet in his hand. Don't think he called a single play.

It also brought a tear if joy to my eye to see multiple intermediate to deep crossing routes to a wide open middle of the field. It was...beautiful.

Pretty happy with the play if our corners as well. Simpson (super excited about this TF), McCreary, and Tutt all played really well

I know I was on the other end of that game, so my take is less positive, but if I was a State fan I’d be absolutely stoked at how well that went. Not sure if y’all have what it takes against more established teams like Auburn and Alabama, but right now, no one knows. Y’all could be 2019 LSU 2.0.

I was shocked that neither Demond Demas, Devon Achane nor Muhsin Muhammad played.

I was shocked that Isaiah Spiller only got 8 carries (117 yards including runs of 57, 30 and 20 yards)

I was shocked that our special teams were so monumentally stupid that they gave up a safety on a penalty on a punt return.

I was not shocked that Mond was his usual retarded self.

1. How bad our secondary is. I knew they would be thin, especially without Stingley, but my goodness. That may have been the worst secondary I have ever seen LSU field.

2. Brennan’s poor fundamentals. There’s one thing to have jitters in your first start, especially if you’re a freshman. This is Brennan’s 4th year in this system and he looked completely bewildered. His footwork was all wrong. He was routinely throwing off his back foot with no body rotation. He couldn’t sense the rush in the pocket. He didn’t understand how to climb the pocket and was flushing himself. He looked extremely indecisive, and routinely checked down to covered receivers underneath when receivers were wide arse open down the field. He literally could not see open receivers.

3. Defensive line looked better than advertised. If Miss State’s QB wasn’t such a pro at working the pocket and scrambling to avoid rushers, LSU likely would have had an absolute feast of sack lunches.

That we held uga’s rushing attack in check. I assumed they’d have 300+ rushing.
