does this mean LSU/Arkansas goes back to Black Friday?

If if does, then only when it is played in Fayetteville, I would rather the game be Saturday night. ABC/ESPN will have all the SEC games and they have said they will work with schools to respect traditions. That means TENN/Bama 3rd week in October, UF/UGA the last Saturday in October, Texas/Texas A&M the last week of the schedule (maybe back to Thanksgiving), Ole Miss/State (Egg bowl also on Thanksgiving) which could mean both Texas/Aggie and Ole Miss/State both play on Thanksgiving, ESPN as egg bowl at 5:00 or 6:00 PM, ABC has Texas/Texas A&M at 7:00/7:15 etc.

If Aggie and Texas are going to be the last week, then when the league goes to 9 games, it looks like Texas/Texas A&M will move back to Thanksgiving weekend. The only possibilities for LSU will be Arkansas or OU for LSU to play the last weekend. My guess OU/MIZZOU will likely play both an old Big 8 connection for us old timers along with BIG12. LSU/Arkansas would then be LSU's final weekend game.

All these games are set for the last week, which account for 12 of the 16 teams now in the league.

UGA/GA. Tech
SCAR/Clemson
Bama/Auburn
UF/FSU
UK/Louisville
Ole Miss/MSU
TENN/Vandy
Texas/Texas A&M

That leaves LSU, OU, MIZZOU and Arkansas.

I was worried about this. With A&M-Texas returning to Thanksgiving weekend, it means mathematically LSU has to have Arkansas be its permanent end of the year rival. I don't see how else it could play out that would make any sense... Very sad we are going to be forced into this rivalry. I feel like that has to mean they are pulling Ole Miss from us, which seems crazy to me. I don't see them ending the Bama game or A&M game.

Been watching LSU Arkansas on Thanksgiving for 30 years. Was bummed when we didn’t play on Thanksgiving this year even though aTm was fun too.

LSU is not likely to get Bama, they want Auburn/TENN as 2 of their permanent 3 and not LSU as the 3rd. Saban was very clear about that. Auburn is going to want Bama/UGA, etc. When you work it all out, LSU will likely get Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Arkansas as our 3.

The only other alternative is LSU gets Ole Miss, Arkansas and OU or LSU could get Ole Miss, Texas A&M and OU thus LSU and OU will play the last week.

Given the fixed games that I cited above, those are the options for LSU.

No other way to work it out.

I don’t see anyone with a weak schedule

We have 2 cupcakes then NC State before we start SEC play.

I just hope Nico is ready.

Sure there is. LSU could just not have a fixed opponent that weekend. Or it could but just every other year.

They will after the Championship game. Probably the week after, before bowls start.

Good chance we play NC State in the bowl too.

If that happens, I doubt either team will want to show much in the bowl since we play a real game the 1st week of September.

Well rivalry or not, it is a great game and always has 2 teams with exceptional talent on the field. The 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2019 games just off the top of my head all had elite NFL type players on the field. I will miss playing Alabama every year but that is what older timers are going to have to get use to. Lots of games that were on the schedule or not going to be there every year.

Of the original SEC members still in the league, LSU has played Miss. State, Ole Miss, Alabama and Florida, in that order, the most. Looks like once the league goes to 9 games (3-6 model), LSU will only have 1 of those 4 (Ole Miss) as 1 of our permanents.

I think Woody (our AD) asked for Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Alabama as our permanent 3 but I can 100% totally understand Bama's perspective in wanting to ensure Auburn and TENN are 2 of their 3 thus the LSU game as a 3rd is not an option.

I surely hope not. I am pissed we got stuck with y'all again it is by far the most annoying game on the schedule every year.

Well you are correct if LSU is not to have a fixed opponent and the SEC stays at a 1-7 schedule format. But once they go to a 3-6 format that will become problematic as Texas/Texas A&M will play every year. Now if those 2 agree to play their game say 1st week in November or maybe around Halloween (last week in October, etc) then LSU/Texas A&M could be thanksgiving week.
