Game highlights

This is a strong tradition up there with the iron bowl.

Plus with the addition of a 100 year series with Texas and A&M and the SEC is getting a couple of great new games.

Should always be referred to in the SEC as the Red River Shootout as God intended.

I was there and it was glorious. OU side went bananas on the last TD. Very cathartic after they took advantage of us not having a QB in 2022. The 2021 game is also a good rewatch, but I think last year was better simply because we had an actually good UT team with a supremely arrogant UT media/fanbase on the other side for the first time since the 2000s.

I would highly recommend any neutral fan going, nothing else really like it in CFB. Even the years we lose (which admittedly isn't often) are still fun experiences.

Obviously, you’ve never been to the Iron Bowl where the stakes are normally higher.

Oh, I didn't know the Iron Bowl had 50,000 fans of either team in each endzone and was held in the middle of a state fair.

Atmosphere at OU/Texas is just on another level. Nothing else to say.

I haven’t heard where the FL/Ga game will be played during the stadium rebuild starting in ‘26. I’ve heard that it might be home and home. Jags home games are going to be played either in Orlando or Gainesville.

I am going to the WLOCP this year..

It's the first of Florida's 5 game gauntlet to end the year.

11/2 Georgia
11/9 @ Texas
11/16 LSU
11/23 Ole MIss
11/30 @ Florida State

Anyone have advice on where to stay? what to do? How to get tickets?

OMG. That is a brutal schedule to end the season for Florida.

Each "big time" rivalry has something unique about it. The fair makes that game easily the most festive.

The fact that Oklahomans and Texans don't care for each other as people on a philosophical basis makes the game as much about the states as it is about the teams or the schools allows it to hold its own with the inner state hate of Bama as well as and the hate between Michigan and Ohio... or Georgia and Florida.

Finally, the thing that puts it over the top of the WLOTCP is the way that the crowd is split. It is literally like playing a home game or road game depending on which side of the 50 the action is happening.

You also have opposing senior students as well as the rich people are right next to each on the opposite 50 yard lines.

Where the WLOTCP is cool is that you have the split in the end zones where the poorest people who have tickets sit. Way better fights. Also, since there isn't a fair to keep them more docile..the trash talking and fighting before and after the game in Jacksonville is way better than it is in Dallas.

There is way too much in security in Fair Park for much shite to start up. They are on phone to the cops as soon as anything starts to heat up. And after the game, the winning fans usually hang around the fair while the losing fans usually leave... keeping a lid on things.

It’s closer to the cocktail party. I’ve lived in Texas and know a bunch of Oklahoma fans. Neither fan base discusses the Red River Shootout at a funeral in May. Alabama and Auburn fans discuss the Iron Bowl 24 7 365. They kill one another over it. I’d posit that NO one should want a rivalry game in college football to mean as much as the Iron Bowl does to Auburn and Alabama fans…it’s not healthy

Got the chance to go to several IB’s in both Tuscaloosa and Auburn. Thought fans were very passionate during the game but generally polite to each other before/after.
