There is a commonly held consensus that the iron bowl is the “greatest” Rivalry in college football and perhaps in all sports.

However this year really puts that narrative into question.

This Has to be the most irrelevant the iron bowl has been in decades.

Auburn is a dumpster fire and people are more interested in whether or Not Ln. Kiffin will be there Coach then how Auburn will do in this game.

For Alabama, The steaks are whether or not they play in the citrus bowl if they win/lose.

Truth be told it seems that all of the hype about this rivalry in recent years has been based on Alabama’s success.

On the other hand no matter how good or bad Ohio State or Michigan are, The Game Always brings national excitement to all college football fans. This year in particular since it has playoff implications.

But it seems that the Iron Bowl has been exposed as an inferior rivalry to the Game with both participants being absolutely irrelevant this season.

I hope they have some good World Cup games on at 3:30 this Saturday because that would be more interesting than iron bowl this year.

Honestly rivalry games when you think it will suck sometimes end up being the best ever.

Alabama has basically no shot at playoffs
Auburn can make a bowl and beating Bama would salvage a shitty season

Don’t be surprised if it’s a good game

I’d take a steak over a trip to the Citrus Bowl.

That's one man's opinion. It's been decades since I watched Ohio State- Michigan, but I always watch Alabama-Auburn. The Iron Bowl is appointment television to me even when the the game isn't expected to be competitive.

far from it. GT used to be good and there were some great games up until like 2011. And the fans hate each other.

The history is there. The hate is there. GT just sucks.

It's rare to see a post on this medium so well done.

To borrow from UGA alum Lewis Grizzard, that game is like watching two mules fighting over a turnip.

Lol @ steaks

Also The Iron Bowl > Ohio State vs Michigan

You must be on the younger side if you think the iron bowl is only hyped because of Alabamas recent success.
