Mizzou is listed number 46. That isn't good for the 2021 football college team talent composite. Only Vandy is listd lower than Mizzou. This is why Drinkwitz is trying hard to recruit much better to get this roster to have better players for 2022.

This goes to show that if you are not in the top4 of this list, you ain’t winning a natty. Look what happened to Norte Dame, Cincy or Michigan

2019 LSU was like 5 or 6.

I change my mind
LSU was 5th in 2019 and Clemson was 6th in 2018.

Harsin and Orgeron had pretty good rosters based on that.

Shoot, 2016 Clemson was #9.

Do you know how I know that Kiffin thought he'd get another offer?

Recruiting is obviously not an exact science. There will always be a few 5 star busts and 3 star diamonds in the rough. But assuming competent coaching and development, the teams with highly rated recruiting classes generally will win.
In outperforming your recruiting ranking, it helps a lot if one of your 5 star hits or 3 star diamonds in the rough turns out to be the #1 pick in the draft at QB, as was the case with 2018 Clemson and 2019 LSU.

I don't believe this takes in account transfers or those who leave the team

I don't believe Joe Burrow was a three star and Trevor Lawrence for sure wasn't.
2019 LSU did have two really great three stars in Clyde Edwards Helaire and Justin Jefferson though.

Lawrence was a 5 star hit at QB. Burrow (whether 3-4 star) outplayed his ranking. That was the point.

A few things stand out on that list:
1. I was told by GA fans that they were better than Alabama at every position group. Clearly 247 is being bought by the REC.
2. LSU has way too much talent to be as bad as they have been, even with bad coaching. There's something even deeper there.
3. By the time you reach a team Ohio State would play during the regular season, you see 6 SEC teams (4 SEC West, 2 SEC East). Same for Clemson. Talk about your easy paths.

Burrow was a 4* (low on the composite end, a 93 - so a moderate 4* - by 247). It says he was Div III in the Ohio HS system.
His scouting report shows his lowest grades in elusiveness and accuracy (both 6s), which clearly got a lot better once we was out of high school. I guess the question is whether or not the potential was obvious or not. His offers were nothing impressive; outside of Ohio State his next biggest was Boston College. So clearly a lot of schools saw him as a project more so than a "clear success". His QB coach in college did a great job recognizing and developing his skills.

Most of LSU's highest rated players were either really young or not playing.
For instance, LSU's six five stars:
John Emery: Academically ineligible for 2021
Kayshon Boutte: Lost to injury
Maason Smith: True freshman, also suffered an injury late
Eli Ricks: Lost to injury, transferred after the season
Derek Stingley: Lost to injury
Sage Ryan: True freshman, didn't see the field much

I’m not knowledgeable on how recruiting class rankings are compiled, but I do know that QB is the most important position on the field and how that position turns out will make a big difference in a program’s success.
A 5 star QB who lives up to his rating is worth more than a 5 star DT who does the same.

Imagine going 5-7 with the 11th best roster or 6-7 with the 5th and 7th best rosters. That is some serious waste of talent.
