We all know what happened.
Still painful but it was their NC.

Baseball is a cruel sport.
It'll happen sooner rather than later.

We are so fricked in baseball. I'm betting it will take us a few years to even make the conference tourney. Hopefully this pushes some stadium upgrades for us as well.

I'm actually curious with 16 teams if they restructure the current tourney where 12/14 teams get in. They dont have to, just 4 teams instead of 2 dont make it in, but I am still curious if they will try something different.

All 16 getting in, making r.16 and r.8 single elimination then final four double elimination would be kind of fun where the final 4 is kind of like regional setup.

Baseball, more than any, is a game of attrition. You just have to keep putting a good team out there every year and hope things break your way.

Early Top 25 for 2022

With Ou & Ut added, going into next year, top 10 is all SEC

1. Texas
2. Vanderbilt
3. Arkansas
4. Mississippi State
7. Florida
9. Ole Miss
10. LSU
19. Tennessee
21. Georgia

I'm all for more baseball, but the SEC tournament is already a logistical headache with 12 teams.

I think if you add any more you almost have to get rid of double elimination, which I think I could be ok with.

OU & Texas didn't make the list.

We were CWS semi-finalists. Again. Does that count for anything?

I like the idea of 2 weekends..

1st weekend - 4 regionals with 4 teams each

2nd weekend - 1 regional with 4 champs

It prepares teams for regional play. Not sure if there is enough time to pull it off, but I like the format.

I think you can make a legit case for any of those Top 4 teams being No. 1. Obviously the Top 3 have super high end talent, and State has a good bit of that too plus has been perhaps the most consistent team in the country the last 5-6 years.

This could be cool, play 4 "regionals" either on campuses or in some of the minor league parks around the southeast, then keep the final 4 regional in Hoover to appease the traditionalists.

It's behind a pay wall I think, but Jacob Berry was #1.

I ‘d love a longer, drawn out SEC Tournament, especially since Lemonis has made it clear that MSU will only be attending the first 2 mandatory games

Surprised Texas with their baseball history can’t recruit top 25

That was top draft-eligible players, not just top players. Maybe the prior poster didn't see the difference.

They need to either go back to 12 teams and play it just straight double elimination up to the title game with the top 4 seeds getting byes in round 1. If they go 16 teams, they need to do pods like the ACC does: 4 pods then play a round robin within your pod and the winners of each pod then go to a single elimniation final four. I actually like the pod format a lot better. It gives everyone the opportunity to play multiple games to boost resumes, and it's a lot easier to follow compared to the single elimination, then double elimination, then single elimination again format we have now

Because recruiting rankings in baseball are borderline irrelevant with how much parity there is. So many kids out there the idea that you can rank them like in football or basketball is absurd.

Looks like Ut only has 8-9 recruits, everyone in top 25 has 12-20 recruits, Vanderbilt has 18 recruits

Plenty good enough to beat Texas on an annual basis, though.

If there is one year that recruiting matters less it’s 21 due to the mass transfers. Or is that captured in their ranking?

yawn

We are like the Georgia of baseball. Somehow we got lucky with one of our worst teams to go to Omaha in 2017 and won a natty. #underachievers
