Lot of reasons behind it. Best ever plays consistently. LSU defense was not consistent. Actually in no game did they look remotely elite. Weird.

The hardest SEC schedule ever was 2019 and LSU conquered it. They are a runaway for best team of all time in the SEC, by some metrics the best team of all time.

I'll only say this.... it would have taken a '92 Bama defense to even think about holding our offense down. We had the most dominant offense ever. Best team ever ? Considering who we mowed down, we have as good an argument as any.

According to resume, yes , yes they are. Btw did you see how he defense performed once everyone was healthy and experienced? Ask Clemson how good that defense was.
If you've got the greatest offense ever and great defenses can't stop it consistently and they score enough to win every game, does having a great defense matter? What matters is can you stop that offense enough to beat it. The answer was no and quite easily.

Sitting around arguing who is the best team ever is like trying to pick the best flavor of ice cream. They are all good. And there is really no answer. Rules change and the game changes. Best you can do is maybe pick the best team of a decade. And you can probably debate that.
