You missed the point.
It wasn’t “housing is the devil.” It was a rural area that had been intentionally kept rural. A big developer bought the land knowing the zoning restrictions, then muscled the Metro Council to change it after the fact because they couldn’t get permits under the existing rural classification.
The road was already heavily trafficked and undersized — that’s one of the main reasons the permits weren’t granted originally. Adding nearly 200 homes on top of that wasn’t smart planning.
This also had nothing to do with being anti-development. It had everything to do with the Metro Council using their last window of control to force denser development into a future St. George area as a middle finger before St. George could govern itself. They knew the switch was coming and still did it.
That’s the issue. Not “houses bad.” Racca voted with the city, so no one in St. George should support her.

This exactly. I’m non party affiliated, but it’s not because I want to be. If the GOP weren’t so damn weak and backstabbing Id gladly switch my party affiliation. Now do I vote red 100% and donate to individual candidates? Yes, but I won’t become a Republican until they clean out the RINOs and start caring more about the constitution and budget.
Oh and the country was better when everyone loved Jesus.

I never post stuff like this, but I appreciate loyalty, and St. George residents need to remember something about Jen Racca.
In April 2022 she voted yes to rezone roughly 60 acres at Hoo Shoo Too and South Tiger Bend from agricultural/rural to residential so a developer could put in the Woodhill subdivision (nearly 200 homes).
She was one of the yes votes (with Amoroso, Banks, Cole, Coleman, Dunn, Hurst, and Moak). The three no votes were Dwight Hudson (who represents that area), Brandon Noel, and Laurie Adams.
I’ve been seeing her Justice of the Peace signs all over and it brought it back. I remember that meeting vividly — Hudson looked straight at her and mouthed “what are you doing?” after she voted yes. Residents were begging them not to do it over flooding, traffic on that two-lane road, and killing what little rural character is left out there. She still voted for the developer.
She’s either bought and paid for or just another phony when it comes to protecting this side of the parish. Either way, St. George people should remember exactly where she stood when it counted.

1. Limit the menu (food was coming out after people were getting their checks)
2. Hold golf style quiet signs when interviews are occurring/starting (acoustics are awful, I was 100ft from the interview and could barely hear anything. People constantly talked during the interviews.)
Saying that, this could be a really cool deal! It has a ton of potential, but one could tell today was a learning experience for all parties involved. Servers were working their tails off and what little I could hear from the interviews seemed like good content.
