That 2011 D only faced 1 halfway competent offense all year, and that was garbage arse Arkansas.

09 Bama > 2011 Bama

95, 96, 06, 08 UF teams would have a great shot against 11 Bama

Like I said, there isn't a team UF has fielded in their entire history that would best 2011 Bama. I honestly think 2011 Bama may have been the best team in Bama history despite the OT blemish to the LSU GOAT team. Our 2009 team was great, but not nearly as diminant on D, and not as dangerous passing AND running the ball.

It's not a comparison of who would win if they played. 2012 UGA would beat any team in college football history pre-1980 just due to size, speed, etc. It's a comparison of how the teams did against the rest of college football. That 95 nebraska team played a pretty tough schedule with about 4 or 5 ranked teams, including several in the top 10, and they massacred almost everyone. They didn't have any close calls, didn't have any nailbiters, and didnt' need any help from refs or other teams in the country losing or anything else. They are the only team I can think of (in the modern era anyway) that didn't need an ounce of luck to win the title. They just steamrolled everything in their path.

Without reading the entire thread, the 1995 Nebraska team was the single best team in my lifetime. Very dominant.

I do want to clear up one thing though and it's this perception that 2011 Alabama somehow went through their schedule being challenged. Excluding the regular season LSU game, Alabama won their 2011 games by an average of 29 points a game which is an incredible stat.

Bottom line, 1995 Nebraska is the greatest single team in my lifetime but I do think 2011 Alabama would have been competitive in a game against 1995 Nebraska although they'd lose that game more often than not.

I don't know who would win. I do enjoy the fact that we are having this discussion after growing up with DuBose and Shula.

Somebody earlier was talking about individual awards and 2009 Bama had 6 All Americans, a heisman trophy winner and lots of other individual awards. I believe that Alabama team Also beat the previous 4 national title winners on their way to the championship.

We played a lot of close games and I do not think they were better than 94 Nebraska in their time but if you look at all of the accomplishments of that team compared to another I think it stacks up with nearly anybody.

Actually that 2009 team beat everyone they played by at least two scores other than our two biggest rivals, AU and UT. Most were total blowouts.

95 Huskers.

They beat every team by double digits.

And most teams they beat by more than double the score. They were disgustingly good.

Tom Osborne was not above running up the score after the other team had packed it in. The average margin of victory is a little misleading.

That said, they were freaking awesome.

on xbox. That defense with a month to prepare means the triple option probably doesn't score a point. Tell me how many 300 pound defensive ends and 260 pound linebackers that offense faced

Uhhhh...no. Last year's Alabama team was much better all around than this year's Alabama team and this year's game was a last second A&M win. Manziel would have had a lot more trouble against last year's Alabama secondary (compared to this year's).

Jesus, why is it so hard for you gumps to answer a question honestly. We all know that the athletes today are bigger faster and stronger. The question however relates to the teams and what they did in those respective seasons. If you for once think that Alabama played a harder schedule than the Nebraska team, you are out of your freaking mind. nebraska demolished everyone in their path, INCLUDING the SEC champ Florida who was better than any other team in this conference that year. So to say that they would have not made it through the SEC it plain out ridiculous. 2011 Bama was a great team but so was 2011 LSU. 9-6,21-0 means one and only one thing.....we split a 2 game series. Nebraska had ZERO losses and killed the teams they played with an offensive plan that the other team knew they would run. Yes Bama is great yada yada yada....but in the essence of the question, the 95 Nebraska Cornhuskers were leaps and bounds above yall. Accept it and move on with your 230th self proclaimed championship.

Insult all you want but its the truth. Had roles been reversed and yall won the first game and then we won the BCS, I promise, you and every one of your gump buddies would be swearing we were even. Buts its all good. Enjoy your wins, I know I would. Difference is I can step back and realize its all just a game not my life

Do you honestly believe Bama prepared for Southern the way they would prepare for 95 Nebraska?

2011 Bama and many other current teams would beat 95 Nebraska.

Players are bigger, faster, and stronger now than they have ever been. You can live in the past and hype up old teams as the best thing ever, but the simple fact of the matter is that current teams just have more physically gifted players across the board.

Well 95 Nebraska never lost, especially not at home.

I think that settles it.

I believe 1971 Oklahoma still has the record for most rushing yards averaged per game. That team was the second best team in college football, second only to '71 Nebraska - another GOAT candidate.
