The 2012 defense is the one that got exposed due to weaknesses. The 2011 defense was a different animal.

Gumps gonna GUMP. Also since you wanna talk about 2012 Bama , you don't think the 87 th passing attack exposed you?

Obviously I didn't read this thread, and obviously 95 Nebraska would steamroll right thru that arse

Hell, 95 Florida would beat 2011 Bama by 17+ points

Eta: 95 UF would win by more than 95 Nebraska. DW would shred that secondary up

Cant compare teams from different periods. I think the 96 Bulls would beat both of them.

Exactly, college football has changed. Bama is the current dynasty and that's all I give a shite about.

The cool thing for Bama fans, is that the NU dynasty is long over. We still have the chance to build on our dynasty...another NC in the next 2-3 years and it's not even a discussion about which dynasty was better.

PS--players are so much biggger and faster now, 2011 Bama D would kill Tommy Frazier. Bama by 14.

It's not a comparison of who would win if they played. 2012 UGA would beat any team in college football history pre-1980 just due to size, speed, etc.

It's a comparison of how the teams did against the rest of college football. That 95 nebraska team played a pretty tough schedule with about 4 or 5 ranked teams, including several in the top 10, and they massacred almost everyone. They didn't have any close calls, didn't have any nailbiters, and didnt' need any help from refs or other teams in the country losing or anything else. They are the only team I can think of (in the modern era anyway) that didn't need an ounce of luck to win the title. They just steamrolled everything in their path.

LOL, there's not a UF team in your whole history that would beat Bama 2011. That D was the best in the modern era. Nice try.

That's true, but their dynasty didn't start in 94 like some people say. The year before they played for the title and only lost by FSU kicking a game winning field goal at the end of the game.

Well, if that's the standard, then it's an easy answer. That said, you put those two teams on a field in their prime, Bama wins 8/10 times because the game has improved so much the last 15 years.

95 Nebraska is the greatest team I have ever seen - and I'm one of the biggest Bama fans going.

As far as '95 UF? Gator, please. Trent would bend the Gator D over almost as roughly as the Huskers. And if the Nebraska D almost killed DW, can you imagine what the '11 Bama D would do? Especially when you consider the complex coverage schemes Saban would throw out there. Would not be remotely close.

Good point, but also remember that Bama 2008 finished the regular season 12-0 and #1. If it were not for the SECCG we would have played in the natty in 2008. NU didn't have to worry about a conference CG.

Also, a dynasty is measured by championships won---NU's run ended with 3....if Bama adds another that puts us at 4 and makes it a superior dynasty. That was my point.

This.

Another cool thing is that there is a five page (so far) thread of people trying to convince everyone that 2011 Bama wasn't better than the 95 Cornhuskers which has been universally accepted as the best team in college football history.

Whether they were or not is irrelevant. What matters is that some people are concerned enough to make their argument.

Which is exactly why you can't do that. Take an all star team of the best Alabama players in the whole decade of the 70s and put them up against UGA's 2012 team. UGA would wipe the floor with them.

You can't say bama is better than 95 nebraska because if they played each other bama would be bigger and faster so they'd win. That's not how it works.

That 2011 D only faced 1 halfway competent offense all year, and that was garbage arse Arkansas.

09 Bama > 2011 Bama

95, 96, 06, 08 UF teams would have a great shot against 11 Bama
