1. Auburn- Malzahn uses Newton, Dyer, and Co. along with veteran O-line and playmaking WR's to establish the top offense in the SEC, defensive depth keeps teams from clawing back.

Pass me some of that Kool-Aid you're drinking.

The last 6 games of the season Auburn's defense was better than its 2007 defense in every statistical category. We have a lot of depth coming in with seniors at many positions the defense will make a strong jump.

How can you compared between 2007 Defense to 2009 Defense?

Because Saban is a great coach. I dont see Auburn as a threat..but yall have a chance in 2011

I'll admit its hard to see a team as a threat after a 31-10 dismantling. I don't really think many saw Bama as much of a threat heading into '08 either. Saban may be a great coach, but its easy to coach elite talent, which Auburn is beginning to get now too. We'll see what Chizik can do with it all. My only concern with 2011 will be the offensive line. We lose Ziemba and Co. after next year, and it always seems hard to succeed when breaking in a new line. Also the schedule sets up better for us next year with LSU, ARK, and UGA at home and Tennessee rotating off for USCe.

well if yall go 9-3 next year, I'm positive yall will have a chance to win the SEC in 2011. As of AL, I think Saban will take a year off in 2010.

You look at 3rd down conversions allowed, tackles for loss, sacks, passing efficiency, yards per carry, yards per attempt in passing, interceptions, etc...

The defense improved in nearly every statistical category. This is considering the fact we had no depth in the secondary and at the end of the season had 3 semi healthy linebackers. The defense won't be top 10 but I expect around 30th total defense.

For those who don't know...Mallett has NOT declared for the NFL draft.

But anyway...

West:

1. Bama
2. Arkansas
3. LSU/Auburn
4. Auburn/LSU
5. Ole Miss
6. Miss State

East:

1. Florida
2. Georgia
3. Carolina
4. Kentucky
5. Tennessee
6. Vandy

It's hard to predict before knowing who will declare for the draft but I'll give it a shot.

West:
1. Bama - Good depth and I can't put them lower after a trip to the big game.
2. Arkansas - I don't know why but I like them if Mallett stays. Picking between LSU, Auburn, and Arky is really tough for me.
3. LSU - They have a lot of talent and I want to put them at number 2. I'm not putting much faith in Miles right now but I think with an improved JJ they could win the west.
4. Auburn - I wouldn't be shocked if they got 2nd. They will have a first year starter which is why I put them below LSU and Arky.
5. Miss State - I like Mullen but the other teams have more talent.
6. Ole Miss - They lose a ton of talent and they already had a mediocre year. Their OL will be terrible and they won't have the homerun threats.

East
1. South Carolina - They had a great group of freshmen and have a returning starter at QB. The returning starter is what makes me pick them. Based on previous performance I had a hard time picking them but their D is pretty good and their offense should be decent. Lattimore would help them quite a bit.
2. Georgia - They'll have a first year starter but I think they'll rebound. Rogers and AJ Green should be a really good combo and I don't think their defense will stink 2 years in a row.
3. Florida - They lose their whole team. I wanted to put the 4th but Tennessee loses quite a bit too and they have less talent to work with. I switched them and Tennessee 12 times doing these picks.
4. Tennessee - They could win the east but I think without Berry, Williams, some key seniors, and breaking in a new QB that Florida will edge them out for 3rd.
5. Kentucky - I think they'll still be Kentucky.
6. Vandy - I pick them to also still be Vandy. I'm interested to see their super freshman's second year though.

This is quickly turning into a contest to see which Auburn fan is the most delusional.

So far, the frontrunner is Alphatiger721 with these gems:

quote:

Auburn always seems to play well on the road, especially in the Iron Bowl
Other than your road blowout loss in the Iron Bowl last year and your road blowout losses this year to Arky and LSU, perhaps you're on to something.

quote:

Saban may be a great coach, but its easy to coach elite talent...
Speechless.

Bama's schedule could be a big factor next year with all those bye teams we have to face.

That having been said,Bama should be loaded. Veteran QB, top running backs in the conference and maybe the nation,Julio Jones and most of the receiving corps back make for a very good offense.

Defensively we reload somewhat but there's a ton of depth and players returning that logged a lot of time.

Arky will lose Mallett. The Barn has work to do yet numbers wise and loses their QB ,Ben Tate and others.

LSU has the talent to make a run but they still have The Hat.

I do think the Tebowless Gators won't have a cakewalk in the East but they win it again.

I prefer probabilities.

Chance at winning the West

Alabama - 50%
LSU - 20%
Arkansas - 10%
Auburn - 10%
Miss. State - 7.5%
Ole Miss - 2.5%

Chance at Winning the East

Florida - 50%
Georgia - 15%
South Carolina - 15%
Tennessee - 10%
Kentucky - 10%
Vandy - 0%

Betting on Vandy to not win the East is the closest thing I can think of to a sure thing.

I think this is a great pick for the East. With UF in somewhat of a turmoil and losing starting QB, and with UT and UGa both losing starting QB's as well and coming off of a mediocre season, I think USC, with all of the talent they have coming back, will finally be in a good position to finally take the East.
