2010 is still the most gut wrenching Iron Bowl loss of all time.

24-0 lead at home against Scam and only Bama standing in the way of Auburn's first national championship since 1957. Nothing will top how losing that game felt. Especially after seeing Scam running around the field after the game with his hand over his mouth. It caused a non-native man to poison some trees.

Agree. Lived in the red zone even after 24-0. Talk about some crazy voodoo.

I'm over it. The NC the next two years took the sting out of it.

I would hope so now.

Agreed. It was brutal

We were so close to the entire board saying 1957 instead of 1998 and we blew it. At home.

That game was rough as an AU fan too… watching us getting smoked all game after a great season to slowly coming back. Luckily we won.

Maybe in the moment. I haven’t thought about that game in a long time though, outside of the context of Harvey Updyke. We rattled off back to back National Championships after that and the “Cam back” quickly lost its sting.

Eh, 2010 hurt but a lot of that hurt was "we finally win an NC and Auburn turns around and does it right behind us!" The incredible success we have had since then has pretty much alleviated that pain.

2013 is the horrible gift that keeps on giving. We should have been going for three NCs in a row and instead stub our toes against an Auburn team that a) Really had no business being on the same field as us, and b) Ran an offense built around breaking the rules in a way they knew the refs wouldn't call. That game still steams me up.

Malzahn's offense was built around having offensive linemen run block on plays where the QB had the option to either run or pass. If he chose to pass he was counting on the refs to either not notice or not call ineligible receiver downfield.

The only fumble of Ingram's career and it rolled like twenty yards

I see the point you are trying to make, and it would probably hold up if the QB was taking a 5 or 7 step drop while the linemen are run blocking but that wasn't the case. The pass option of Malzahn's RPO when used was a quick hitter and with that, the linemen are allowed to be up to 3 yards past the line of scrimmage before the ball is thrown. The ball was out before they would qualify as ineligible receiver down field.

Is that the one where Ingram fumbled about the 20 and the ball went out of the endzone for a touchback on their way to a 31-0 lead?
