We are going to be forced to take Oregon, Washington, Clemson and Miami by ESPN (like they care about their GOR deals with the ACC). It’s ok though, we will happily cash their $100 mill+ a year check to do it.

Those "Alliance" colleges are suddenly hearing and seeing Sankey's warning that that 12 team playoff offer may not be there next time. It won't. Even if the Big 10 and SEC stuck at 16 teams each like now, they could offer tv networks a bid option on a playoff (12 team? 8 team?) between those conferences, and they would win the tv bidding war against any other conferences or the NCAA. Those two conferences could also monitor cheaters within each conference better than the NCAA, which has lost its use.

I’m neither bitching or moaning.

Simply pointing out your claim of keeping the traditional rivalries when it was really just Ole Miss and Alabama. Also, why would I bitch about being one of two schools to keep two of there primary rivalries. That’s big brain stuff right there.

I don’t care to “do better” on your imaginary conference alignment with schools who are currently in conference. I simply ingested your context and found it shite soup.

You seem incapable of taking criticism.

It will when the rights extend to 2036.

P.S. Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Tulane should all be added before Miami (the trashiest fanbase in the country), and if I'm being honest, I would add Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech before Miami, too.

Take FSU, but not Miami. Add a VA school.

It preserves a lot of the major rivalries, notably Georgia-Florida, Alabama-Auburn, Alabama-Tennessee, LSU-OM, OM-MSU, Florida-LSU. Not to mention Texas-Texas A&M, Texas-OU, FSU-Clemson, and Clemson-South Carolina in the expansion divisions.

Georgia probably loses the most here (Auburn and Tennessee), but they keep Florida at least. Best I've tried, I can't come up with a better solution, you're going to necessarily lose some rivalries not matter how you divide up 20 schools into four divisions. And it's almost impossible to balance the power perfectly without having divisions that make no sense on other fronts.

You're posting in a thread called "20-Team SEC" and yet you are complaining about imaginary conference alignment. I think you might need a morning coffee.

Criticism is great, but we're going to have to disagree that this would qualify as such. You're not offering anything constructive here.

Sounds like the ACC teams are locked in with their deal. Don't see any reason to have more than 16 teams either. I think either the PAC 12 or Big 12 ended up raiding the other one.
This is the answer.

I like the idea of having Virginia Tech in the SEC. I appreciate their football fan base.

Add West Virginia to this conversation if we go to 24 SEC teams.

Anyone with a lukewarm fan base is a no go for me.

Good heavens that would be brutal

So would be for Vandy and Arkansas and few others that have to deal with teams that recruit in the top 10 yearly.

This division is a no-brainer.

Win and you're in the playoffs.

The top two highest-ranked teams would still get into the playoffs. Keeping fan bases upbeat.

Paul Finebaum keeps talking like UNC is the grand prize... He may be correct.
