Alignment = Balance
SEC Divisions.
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M
Arkansas
Missouri
Alabama
LSU
Auburn
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Georgia
Florida
Tennesee
Kentucky
Vandy
Clemson
Florida State
Miami
South Carolina
North Carolina
We could be setting up a B1G SEC members-only 12-team college football playoff.
Each winner of each division advances to the playoff with two wildcards from each superconference. Six SEC teams and 6 B1G teams for the CFP championship.
My *guess* at expansion.
4-1-3 schedule format (8 conference games). The permanent opponent from other division:
Oklahoma - Miami
Texas - Clemson
Texas A&M - LSU
Arkansas - Ole Miss
Missouri - North Carolina
Alabama - Tenn
LSU - Texas A&M
Auburn - Georgia
Ole Miss - Arkansas
Mississippi State - Vandy
Georgia - Auburn
Florida - FSU
Tennesee - Alabama
Kentucky - South Carolina
Vandy - Mississippi State
Clemson - Texas
Florida State - Florida
Miami - Oklahoma
South Carolina - Kentucky
North Carolina - Missouri
Most traditional rivalries maintain, plus creating new annual match-ups that the fans would be interested in seeing.
*Rough Draft*
B1G divisions with 4-1-3 permanent opponents:
USC - Notre Dame
Oregon - Ohio State
Washington - Penn State
Standford - Michigan State
UCLA - Wisconsin
Wisconsin - UCLA
Iowa
Nebraska
Minnesota
Northwestern
Ohio State - Oregon
Michigan - Wisconsin
Michigan State - Stanford
Illinois
Indiana - Purdue
Notre Dame - USC
Penn State - Washington
Rutgers
Maryland
Purdue - Indiana
I would enjoy a playoff seating format - B1G 1 vs. SEC 6 / B1G 2 vs. SEC 5 / B1G 3 vs. SEC 4 / B1G 4 vs. SEC 3 / B1G 5 vs. SEC 2 / B1G 6 vs. SEC 1... Let the best teams play for the championship.

Sounds like the ACC teams are locked in with their deal. Don't see any reason to have more than 16 teams either. I think either the PAC 12 or Big 12 ended up raiding the other one.

Makes sense, though I think it would be NC State instead of UNC. They’d probably end up in the B1G.

Miami? Hell no. We want Virginia Tech. Trust me. They fit right in with SEC culture. Unc would be ok but still not close to Va Tech.

Hell, why don't you just move Florida to the ACC!

If I’ve learned one thing about conference expansion in the past 15 years, it’s that when a clearly vulnerable conference says they are locked in or solid, they are about to get raided. That GoR won’t stop the biggest players or the networks from getting what they want.
If the Big Ten goes to 20, the SEC will match. I’m not rooting for that, just being realistic here. There are still logical expansion targets for the SEC that should increase the payout per school. Greed is going to continue to prevail over tradition.
I do think this stops at 20, or 24 max, before scheduling becomes completely absurd and the conference affiliation starts to lose any meaning.

IMO that would be stupid on their part, their travel schedule would become a nightmare with flying north and to the west coast for games, football not so much, but you have to think of their other sports, especially basketball and baseball...

Switching Florida with South Carolina may work.

Do not want trashy FSU and Miami in the SEC.
I’d take Clemson and UNC.

Your gulf and Dixie alignment makes zero fricking sense.

I grouped the 10 original SEC members in those divisions and preserved as many traditional rivalries as I could. The expansion teams are aligned geographically in the other divisions. If you mean that the Gulf and Dixie divisions are not precisely geographically aligned, that’s true. But it seems like a better concession than destroying rivalries and not having Bama and Tennessee meet annually, or Florida and Georgia.

It’s three patty cake divisions and one stacked division.
It’s also not maintained rivalries outside of catering to Alabama (UT and AU) and Ole Miss (LSU and MSU)
West and East have zero rivalries within SEC. No need to cater to any of the schools that will be added.

clemsux has been paying for players through their families with jobs and housing for years...all legal by the way...now that the NIL money is on the table...clemsux will fade fast.....it's not going to be what it is today in 3 years.....the money will be the fall of clemsux.

The theorized endgame to all of this madness is the B1G and SEC both go to 22 or 24 teams. They tell the NCAA to pound sand, have their conference champs play each other and declare that winner the national champion.

Welp, feel free to do better. You seem like you just want to bitch and moan though.
