That's pretty hyperbolic
How so? Where does the NCAA gain the authority to prevent it based on these rulings?
It seems apparent the only way anything gets fixed is if that bill passes, and who knows what's actually in it, or what will be put in it before it passes.
quote:
This all started with money. While as a fan, college ball was better and more fun to watch prior to the NIL era in my opinion; However, as an objective viewer, there was no reason for these conferences and the NCAA to be profiting hundreds of millions of dollars while the athletes bringing in the money were tossed crumbs. (And yes, college tuition, books and room/board are crumbs compared to what the NCAA and these conferences were raking in).
But the NCAA doesn't make any profit. That's revenue, and the number is just the total of what the schools bring in, outside things like the NCAA basketball tournament where they distribute it to the conferences etc.
That money was spent on scholarships for other people and to pay for other sports.
quote:
All the while, players get suspended for accepting a free $40 hair cut, or a free meal, etc... NCAA blundering as per usual.
Required to prevent people from going around the rules as they do with NIL now.
The real issue is consistency, although much of that is due to the NCAA being a private organization with no real legal authority to carry out its investigations, as well as sometimes missing the spirit of the rules.
That's not justification for completely destroying the sport.
quote:
The current legal issues only apply to the class of 2022. Again, the NCAA stepping in it by not just letting these 16 players who wanted to stay in school but couldn't because they implemented the 5 for 5 rule a mere 3 weeks after the draft. They simply allow it, people gripe for a year, but all this legal bs goes away.
The NCAA has every right to do that. You don't got into a store and pay $200 for a TV, then see it go on sale 3 weeks later for $150 and then claim the store screwed you over.
This idea that these players are entitled to these things is part of the reason I said what I did above.
What exactly is the difference between the SEC allowing it to start with and the judges forcing it? Personally, I hope the SEC and NCAA fight it the way they did the Alabama basketball player.
And yet that sadly did not set the precedent because all it takes is 1 judge.
quote:
Turning a blind eye to the Chambliss debacle is also a bad look for the SEC as a conference considering the stance they are taking on LSU. (which is also ironic, considering how many of the SEC programs were going after the same/similar players and will actually do so now that the courts have ruled).
This is my entire point. What these things are doing is just allowing things to continue in the same direction. And it will continue until we finally come to a ruling or conclusion that the NCAA has every right to govern as it see's fit.

Interesting how you are repeatedly avoiding the fact that you created an alter to bitch
Yes, I created this account just to come here and complain about a ruling that happened a month later.
It's also completely my fault that you took someone else's opinion on the current state of the sport personally. I knew you were super sensitive and I ignored it.
You got me, I am sorry.

quote:Based on these rulings, the judges have ruled that the 2022 payers have been DAMAGED by the NCAA for not giving them the option for a 5th year like EVERY class before them (because of the free Covid year) and EVERY class after them (because of the new 5 for 5 rule).
How so? Where does the NCAA gain the authority to prevent it based on these rulings?
When someone is DAMAGED, the court orders RELIEF to make them whole.
Tell me how someone in your hyperbolic scenario has been DAMAGED?

It doesn't matter, all that is needed is the claim and the judge.
The NCAA is damaging my earning potential by denying me eligibity. The coach and school want me to play, they want to give me money to play, but the NCAA is refusing to allow it because they are a cartel and they are breaking anti-trust laws by doing this.

No, they don't.

Name them.
So you are gonna tell me you never heard of Luther Davis? He got caught. Many others made claims after they left school.

Do you mean the 5 claimed retroactively in 1982 after Bear died?
Is it a matter of Alabama only claiming them later while other schools claimed the same kinds full time?

You mean the guy who claimed to be a bagman for NFL agents to secure contracts with players after they left Alabama?

I don't take other people's opinions on the sport personally for starters.

And I did? By pointing out that you responded multiple times to a poster but avoided what he was saying? Interesting haha

What's to say exactly? It's random people on a message board saying random shite.
If you think I made an account a month prior to something that happened in order to complain about it later, then you are suggesting I can see the future, or you are just lashing out because you took what I said personally.
I also don't directly respond to people when they call me retarded or other names. I respond to what they said that had merit.
