If tweet fails to load, click here. Even in defeat, one of the best Bama games I’ve ever experienced and despite the blowback of 9-6, it lived up to the hype. Every snap mattered and it felt like you were a play away from losing.
I was in Tuscaloosa from 5am until the final whistle and I’ve never seen a game day atmosphere that comes close.
There was no question these were the best two teams of the 2011 season.

Um LSU scored a TD at the end of the game.

Early missed and early made field goals for Bama were the difference in the two games they played. It was definitely and edge of your seat kind of game.

No, they didn’t.
It took 7.5 quarters for a touchdown to be scored between those two teams. Both defenses were elite and both offenses scored at will against everyone else.

The game of the so-called century lost its flavor once Bama demanded a mulligan

But the regular season meant so much back then.

Oh shite you right. My B. I just remember Michael Ford nearly getting one in at the end. Didn’t even remember it went into overtime.
I wiped the slate on most of 2011. Blah

Alabama doesnt get a mulligan if Iowa State doesn’t beat Oklahoma State.
The regular season definitely mattered - Oklahoma State lost to a team that finished 3-6 in the Big12.

You saw a hell of a game

That was a monumental game.
I had an atm friend of mine complain the entire game about it being “boring”. They were still big12 then and defense was foreign to them.

I think it's okay to say now that game was almost as much the result of two anemic offenses as it was the result of two stifling defenses.

Hated the way the score ended, but that was a helluva game. And the talent for both teams that year…wow!

Ask Oklahoma State how much it meant

LSU scored 40+ nine times that year
Alabama scored 40+ five times
Only three team kept Alabama under 30 - Penn State, Miss State and LSU
Only two teams kept LSU under 30 - Miss State and Alabama
The offenses were damn good when they weren’t playing against each others defense.

I don’t know if I ever saw a game so intense that could flip on a single play. Plus all the talent all over the field on both sides

LSU was very efficient in the red zone. Our return game gave us a lot of short fields.

Crazy that the top 3 teams in the country were not just in the SEC, but all 3 were in the SEC West.
