When it was announced, I thought it would be the most exciting season in SEC History. Looking back now it never created key TV matchups. I do not know if it was the lack of Defense in the league and the lower level teams took the air out of the sails for some teams. I have no idea how UGA looked since the UF game. LSU, UT and AU have been hard to watch. I wonder if this killed the chances the 10 game SEC schedule is dead.

I like it. Unfortunately, I think we’ll go back to most teams scheduling 1 good P5 school and 3 shitty games. I haven’t missed the FCS and directional school games.

The answer to spice things up is to preserve the historic rivalries but allow the entire league to see each other more often. Pods accomplish this.

Everybody has 3 permanent opponents and rotates their other 5 opponents. You’d keep the big rivalries and see the whole league every 2 years.

Bama vs UGA was a big deal, and UF-Bama will be as well. A&M avoiding both of those East teams hurt the tv matchups, as did all 4 of these teams being head and shoulders above rest of the conference. Not to mention Bama being way better than UGA, UF, and A&M anyways.

I personally think best bet for a fun college football season is 9 game SEC schedule, 2 OOC P5 requirement, 1 whatever you choose.

Oh yeah. Whoops. Guess we just didn’t know A&M was good at the time and there wasn’t much hype around it after Bama blasted them

Yep - that's definitely true.

It was an 11 AM kick for goodness sake

It would have been amazing in a normal year. Turns out, there are a lot more shitty teams than usual this year.

Which is a reflection of how the season has gone. Hard to remember how that game went. Like the Bama-UGA Game, very bland football and the most excitement that has come out of this season was Ark and Missouri's play. The second biggest story was instant replay.

I was hoping it would have created enough excitement that TV and the fans would demand it to continue. Never materialized.

not having +3 in the W column before conference play began made alot of the matchups look not so sexy.

Gotta disagree. In a sheety fall, I caught as many SEC football games as I could. There is no league like this.

Gus may get fired, but that team would be in the hunt in just about every other conference.

New Leach. New Freshwater. O'Chizuk dumpster fire. Arkansas finally off life support.

This season has some great stories and I have been thoroughly entertained.

It was ok, but it's kinda boring playing the same teams every year.

I will be glad when the nonconference games are back. I just wish SEC teams would play 2 games against other power 5 teams then play two nobodies.

Well maybe not the key TV matchups that we are used to seeing hyped up but on the field there were some close games that had some drama which is good Tv. Just off the top of my head the OM Bama shootout, AU OM wasn’t bad, KY game was close for us, Ark AU drama, Egg was close, Arkys and Mizz rise was fun to watch, Fla OM was a shootout, Mizz Ark was back and forth, LSU Mizz was close. There were several competitive games that were entertaining. I know I am missing some.

I believe this year sets up Saban to get his 9 conference games.

Everybody needs at least one blood donor for the first (or super early) game(s). Look at it like the NFL preseason.

It was because of all the hiccups, postponed games, COVID shite, crappy TV game times. I’ve enjoyed the hell out of this all SEC schedule.

Add 2 teams.....do 4X4 pods. Pair 2 pods each year (rotate duos each year) & the winner of those "sets" are your CG teams.
See everybody in 3 years...full H/A rotation in 6.

&, with the paired pod idea, you will never have the same 2 teams in the CG until 3 years (or longer) down the road.

Y1 - AB winner vrs. CD winner
Y2 - AC winner vrs. BD winner
Y3 - AD winner vrs. BC winner

We don't need 9 SEC games. We just need to have every game be P5 except maybe 1. If we played the West more it would diminish the excitement of the games because some of them will inevitably be duds and the rarity makes it exciting. We'll get the best East-West matchup in the SECCG anyway.

Who really wants to see Ole Miss v SCe every other year when you can see either against USC one year and North Carolina the next?

I'll take playing Stanford & ND or Clemson & Washington or Miami & Wisconsin along with GT in any given year. If done right it would give us plenty of matchups we never get to see and make for the most exciting seasons.

Also, (just a Georgia thing) no more small school matchups outside of the State of Georgia. frick those states and their schools. Rotate State and Southern and play the rest against P5 schools exclusively with an occasional exception for the UCFs of the world.
