1-7 would be a bad move and would weaken the cohesiveness of the SEC.

By paying every team every 2 years as opposed to 7 teams every year and the other 8 teams every 16 years?

destroying long standing rivalries isn't good for the conference.

they could easily do pods if the SEC head office had it's head out of it's arse.

I’m fine with pods so long as we don’t call them pods…You can 4 team divisions.

Yes pods or divisions please, any system that has Misery as AR permanent rival is stupid. Tx, A$M, LSU and even OK I get, Missouri noooo. They should be KY or Vandy's rival, boring liberal school that no one gives a crap about. Sorry I just can't get into being pumped up visiting a stadium with a rock endzone and 50k fans.

Maybe Hogs should have beaten Missouri a little more since they’ve been in the SEC if they didn’t want to be matched up with them.

1-7 is what the SEC is..... 3-6 is what the SEC schools think they are....

Georgia Tech is still better than 1/3 of the SEC teams. Of course they are a joke right now. But what does that say about the lower third of the SEC? Should we kick them out of the conference too? Tech is 10-0 against that bottom third the past 20 seasons. Tech has an Orange Bowl win (2 appearances) the past 20 years. The more you bash tech, the more you bash the bottom third of our own conference (making me want to play them even less)

There is about to be 16 teams in the conference. 4 of these teams are in this situation. Majority rules. The whole conference is not going to make a big scheduling decision based on these 4 teams. 2 of which are big boy teams who have a say. It’s simply not worth it.

Now, if you get Oklahoma on board with this way of thinking where they need to play OK State yearly OOC then you might have a case.

I just don’t understand peoples arguments against 9.

What the hell is the difference in playing Vandy in place of Rice? Honestly. Some years the schedule will be intense. Some years you catch a break. It’s not that big of a deal. People are being pussies.

My responses on this thread have stated they should do a 2-6 to cover the important areas for all schools.

But they are not doing that at this time. Maybe that changes.

But between the only two options presently on the table, 1-7 will win out for all the reasons already covered.

It’s because Vandy and others don’t think they can win 3 Conf games every year. Which is what it would take to be bowl eligible

Ok so let’s get the NCAA to change the bowl game requirement. When it comes to these situations Base it more on team GPA. Either way, if you can’t win 4 games Conference or OOC you suck that’s plain and simple. Hell, Vandy can’t even win the 4 OOC games they get now against G5 bottom feeders.

The Georgia’s and Florida’s of the world will survive. We don’t need to base our future scheduling model on vandy and Carolina. Step your game up or stay at the bottom. The fans especially season ticket holders deserve MUCH more than they are getting. It’s such a rip off.

Because there is some weird fascination with 4 years to complete a home and away. Who. fricking. Cares.

It is even more ridiculous with the proliferation of players leaving early, transferring, etc...

How many are even around for four full years anymore?

THIS

or

let teams schedule a ,13th game against anyone they want, any lower tier team - make it a nice extra home game that is almost like a scrimmage, and insist that 6 wins is bowl eligible, even with a 6-7 record

extra home game, same shot at a bowl

Problem solved?

I don’t get the bowl game obsession. Is playing in the toilet bowl after going 6-6 instead of getting Christmas off a punishment or reward?

More exposure, more practice time, more money and a leg up in recruiting

it’s a big deal for the schools involved

I believe it also results in a share in SEC bowl revenues

If this happens I hope we get Texas as our permanent rival. I know everyone assumes it will be OU vs Texas but the SEC PTB owe us for taking away that LSU game on black Friday.

the reports are saying that Arky is pushing the 1-7 model along with Kentucky

if this is true; y'all will get Mizzou and like it

wanna play Texas & an interesting "old school" SEC team every year? (Ole Miss, LSU); then don't bitch out and vote for just 8 games
