10 games is a HELL NO for the 4 with in-state ACC opponents.

That gives the other 12 school 2 slots to schedule anybody to our 1.

That is fair and understandable. Seems like 9 conference games is the magic number.

Problem is then you've got some teams playing 11 P5 games.

I don't think any of the schools losing rivalry games should say yes to the 1-7 option. IMO that includes (but is not limited to) Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee.

But if forced to choose? Even if Florida and Georgia were on the same page they might be out voted by the other schools. The big six playing each other is more balanced than Tennessee vs Vanderbilt, LSU vs A&M or Arkansas etc.

And the very oldest people in power may have loyalty to the oldest rivalries. Should Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Tennessee really stop playing the longest annual rivalry games? Especially when Florida's #1 is probably FSU?

Vols probably want 1-7 so they get Vandy or UK every year instead of annual Bama beatdowns.

So in other words every school should vote no to 1-7

I doubt that. Losing the Alabama game robs them of their most significant national game. Tennessee badly needs attention to stand out for national and regional recruitment

Know what makes more sense than 1/7? 2/6 like we have been playing for years.

I’d rather then just go 3-7, with one of the two OOC having to be P5 (both FBS)

We already lost Auburn (who was our most played opponent) as an annual game so I don't wanna hear crying from anyone else.

If we go 1-7, LSU’s permanent rival has got to be A&M. Texas won’t choose A&M over OU. Arkansas would choose LSU over mizzou but that leaves mizzou without one. Ole Miss gets State. Florida gets UGA.

LSU-A&M
Texas-OU
Arkansas-Missouri
Kentucky-Carolina
Georgia-Florida
Vandy-Tennessee
Ole Miss-State
Bama-Auburn

I think the 14 school presidents favor exactly this list, and they will vote for it.

Reasons:

1. Set rivalries pre and post expansion.

2. Induce maximum SEC representation in 8 team playoff.

3. Increase likelihood of SEC success in such 8 team playoff system, by keeping conference schedule at 8 games

4. Leverage new Conference TV deal when 8 team playoff system is negotiated

Bottomline, school presidents are looking to maximize TV money as the ultimate goal. Remember, we still have to negotiate new TV deals for when OU and TX join, which also coincides with a possible playoff expansion at the same time.

Hell, 10 SEC games would be awesome. Give us 10 conference games. 1 P5 OOC and 1 G5.

That will never happen.

Auburn is basically an ACC school hanging out with their big brother's friends.

We can't help it that we were saddled with two, craptastic coaches for the last 14 seasons.

P.S. Anyways, if the NFL can manage four divisions of four teams each for the two conferences then the SEC can make it work. Anyone telling you otherwise is just blowing smoke up your posterior. A 3/1/4 format (divisional opponents/out-of-division rival/rotational opponents) works just fine.

4x4 pods
3-3-3 format (3 pod mates + 1 perm in other 3 pods + other 3 from yearly paired pod).
See everybody in 3/full H/A in 6...NO GAMES LOST!

Arkansas-Missouri

Great matchup, very even football programs. Neighbors.

Reality is that Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Missouri will get last picks of the SEC rivalry draft. Not trolling, just want to make light of how the 14 school presidents are scheming this. TV money rules the game.

Oh boo boo. If these 4 teams don’t like this then they can drop the ACC game. You act like your ACC opponent is Clemson. It’s Georgia freaking Tech. They are a joke. Might as well be another cupcake.

1-7 would be a bad move and would weaken the cohesiveness of the SEC.

2-7 would be ideal.

7-2? With this one the order of the team to play the top team and the worst team for the two crossover teams from the final ranking from the previous year. Like last year Geogia is number 1 and would be in the East division. Georgia will play the top team in the West from the previous year and the worst team in the West from the previous year. Then the second-best team in the East from previous year (Alabama) will play the second-best team in the West from the previous year and the second worst team in the West the previous year. So forth. I would like to try this format.

Georgia Tech is still better than 1/3 of the SEC teams.
Of course they are a joke right now.
But what does that say about the lower third of the SEC? Should we kick them out of the conference too?
Tech is 10-0 against that bottom third the past 20 seasons. Tech has an Orange Bowl win (2 appearances) the past 20 years.
The more you bash tech, the more you bash the bottom third of our own conference (making me want to play them even less)
