Not bad for a shitty basketball program is it? Hopefully one day we can have a basketball program like Auburn's....

This would be so good for SEC basketball if UA can get Marshall. Here's hoping that he comes to UA!

I know. He's already shown he doesn't have a clue.

Im good with that. We need great coaches at all schools in the SEC for all to succeed. Go get him Billy Boy Battle

Posted by MrAUTigers The only problem with that......IF GM takes the bama job, and doesn't succeed, no "blue blood" program would touch him. IF he stays at Wichita State, and keeps up his rate of success, he stands a much better chance of getting a premier job.
Or he could stay at WSU, miss on a couple of recruits, have a down year or two where he falls back to NIT status and the blue bloods won't touch him either. Which is easier: Maintaining elite success at a mid-major like WSU with a $21 million athletic budget or turning around an historically above average power 5 school with an athletic budget of $150 million and you get a significant chunk of those resources and virtually anything you want/need as long as you get the job done?

DON'T EVEN BOTHER, THOUGH!!

Easier? I would say staying status quo at Wichita State. bama would need to recruit against UK and UF to be elite in this conference. It would be much much easier to stay elite in the MVC. bama has a HUGE sports budget. How exactly did that help Grant? (he was a hot commodity when bama hired him, if you remember correctly)

I wouldn't mind seeing Marshall go to Bama. It'd be great for basketball in the state of Alabama, and he and Bruce can form a historic matchup. Imagine gameday coming to the Iron Bowl of basketball too.
Imagine us being like UNC-Duke, but it both big time sports...lots of money in that!

Great pickup if Bama if they can snag him. Still think Marshall is speaking with Indiana behind the scenes, however.

If so, I dont blame him. Any good businessman would test the market and consider all options before making a well informed decision.

This. I still contend Saban was one of the better things to happen to Auburn football. Good competition breeds better teams for both sides.

We would never be UNC-Duke in basketball. I get what you're saying though.

Completely agree. Without Saban, you don't win the NC in 2010 and don't play for one in 2013. I don't say that to say Alabama is responsible for AU's success. Saban just made y'all raise your game.

We don't even need to be a consistent S16/E8 contender to be extremely profitable, which is really what it's all about. I mean, shite, we were top 15 (I think) in basketball profit under the shittiness that was Grantsketball.

Yeah, I think a lot Bama fans expected y'all to bend over and take it for the next several years. But y'all weren't having that shite at all. Like mosquitoes, auburn just won't die.

Also, if Bama kept being awful at Basketball, Bruce Pearl winning by 20+ would get old after only two seasons. I'd rather have big games against Alabama with something on the line. It's more satisfying beating Alabama knowing the winner goes to the SEC CG.
No it would never get to the point of Duke-UNC, but if both programs progressed, first off, the coaches would be inclined to stay, and secondly the two schools could speak confidentially about their programs outside the state. For instance, Auburn and Alabama fans could have more to hang their hat on than just 'well, we beat Alabama...yeah!'.
So with that I'll say as Auburn fans, we need not worry about Marshall going to Bama...really why should we? Him going to Bama will help Auburn...we already have a 1 season head start...
