longstanding rumors that he likely won’t qualify

Originally started with the first spurned fanbase. I believe others on podcasts/radio shows have alluded to it but I have yet to hear anyone even guess a GPA or ACT (Maybe he hasn't taken?).

Oh, ok, I see. Thanks for the explanation.

Raekwon-sequel in the sense that both MS schools think he’s too big a grade risk and can’t get him in, but he’s miraculously able to qualify in the arms of a big program

That being said, I don’t know anything about his actual academic standing outside of the longstanding rumors that he likely won’t qualify. There’s his whole senior year left...

Big programs do what it takes to get kids eligible. That’s the end of the story. Black will be eligible to play for Florida if that’s where he wants to go.

Javonta Payton's freshman JuCo film is impressive. There could be a lot of opportunity for him next year.

I got season tickets to watch this guy

Grant Tisdale (3 Star)
QB Allen, TX 6’1 204
4/6/2018

He looked good last year and would pop some pretty passes sometimes, but his legs are what carried Allen to the State title. Allen also had a pretty stout defense and good RB.

This would be 3 from Allen High if Grant signs, that is good thing. Lots of football talent is flocking to Allen.

We received a commit today from 3* WR Jadon Jackson from Arkansas. He looks like a really solid pickup.

Get ready, Pete, for the obligatory, "another wide receiver? How about we trade him for a linebacker," replies.

Jackson looks a lot like AJ Brown in how he runs his routes on his Junior season film.

This class is pretty loaded on offense but adding another RB and TE would be nice.

He runs good routes but being +20 lbs less than AJ as a Senior which made/makes him a true beast to cover (right now AJ has 50 lbs on him which is incredible).

I'll probably get ridiculed a little for this comment, but AJ doesn't need to gain another pound, though. He's bordering on a little thick for his height at that position. Much heavier and he'll start to find it difficult to separate from some really quick cover corner one-on-one.

No ridicule from me. Right now he is listed at 230 lbs and I think he could drop 10 - 15 lbs. Likely will next year.

Halfway through the season and we are at 5-2. I think in all honesty most of us thought 4-3 or even 3-4 would be more likely.

We have a shot at finishing 6-6 or better, so it looks like Luke will survive this season. If the wheels don’t fall off completely between now and December, which MS guys do we have a chance to close on? Will they be jumping ship if we toss out an OC or DC?

I can’t get a good read on anything at the moment since state is struggling and Ole Miss is hanging in there and doing enough. What do we need to prove for some of the big names in state to group up and chose Ole Miss.

The same thing that State, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, and every other football fielding school can prove, that we're willing to outbid the other schools.

Step 1: show the croots we have a good QB next year. Check

Step 2: win games. Win 7+ games this year. On our way hopefully

Step 3: fire up the slush fund for all defensive recruits

Seems like most of the top instate guys are trending towards going out of state

Yancy updated his in-state rankings and I don't hate it.

Nakobe Dean plays like a hammer at LB. Zero expectation that he signs with OM but who knows.

Byron Young may be as big of a loss. He may be the next big deal for Bama up front.

It's remarkable that there may be 50 players in this class who will play Power 5 football at some point.

It is a joke that of the top 15 players in the state, we have 0 of the defensive commits.

Young DL - Bama
Pickering DL - State
Handy DL - Auburn
Gordon DL - Auburn
Russell DE - State
Moore DL - State
Turnage CB - Bama
Jones S - State

This is more of an indictment on McGriff than our yards per game allowed. This is straight up inexcusable especially since he’s supposed to be a good recruiter.

No doubt getting Dean is still on the table but damn I would trade Dean for getting all 4 of state’s commits on that list. We will never be back to winning big games if we only recruit WRs

I vaguely remember on a podcast a few weeks ago, Russell Johnson, the Rival recruiting guy for Ole Miss stated that many of the Mississippi recruits and other recruits in general had no contact with McGriff at all (I think he may have even mentioned that some didn't even know who McGriff was). He made it sound like McGriff was delegating his recruiting duties (the primary reason anyone was even slightly excited about his hire) to focus more on becoming a better coordinator (lol).
