Analytics is used as an excuse to deflect responsibility when you make shitty calls that cost you the game.

If Ole Miss kicked field goals this season we’d be undefeated and #1 in the country right now.

Kiffin only took the points once this year - against UGA.

It’s the main reason we beat UGA. Kiffin will do it against opponents he respects.

Yep. And it’s why we lose close games.

NFL teams almost always take the points. Kiffin will never change though.

We should be running a KC Chiefs style offense but we have a kick returner running the ball up the gut against a team with a player who weighs 450 pounds.

We missed field goals against UK, LSU, and UF. You can’t say take the points when kicking isn’t a guarantee

Thought he finally figured that out against UGA.

If he takes the points we don’t lose any of those games.

Our kicker missed a chip shot field goal yesterday and damn near missed the 2nd. These points aren’t automatic. Get a good field goal kicker who can be relied upon and then I’ll believe in “taking the points”

Not to mention the first XP slid just inside the right upright.

Agreed on the points but Davis is the most unclutch kicker we’ve had in a while

We have a much higher success rate at running JJ between the tackles than we do kicking the ball.

That kick in overtime against LSU was pretty damn clutch when the rest of the team looked lost.

I don’t care if he has a couple misses this year and yeah even a missed XP and a few others that were dangerously close, you still have to kick those. Look around the game people, EVERYBODY but us does.

He’s 84% this year. We’re ranked 53rd in the country on 4th down conversions this year. Our field goal conversion is ranked 27th in the country. I don’t understand what goes through Kiffins childish brain about “analytics” but it’s obvious what’s bringing in the points at a hire rate.

84% of 3 is 2.5 expected points per kick. We are 56% converting on 4th down and probably higher on 4th and 1. If our TD probability is anything over 38% then going is the right call. The problem is we went 0-2 and then gave up an 89 yard TD drive.

Edit: also even if he makes both kicks, we still need him to make another one at the end for the win. Which would be 84% chance at best. Lots of things cost us the win, not this.

Guess what if we kick the field goal inside the 5 yard line against Lsu who Davis is perfect this year inside that range. We win the ball game and never go to OT we’re still in the playoffs not having this discussion. It’s gets old men believing in this guy to make the right decisions. Ranked 74th in 3rd down conversion at 39% ranked 105th in red zone efficiency. We need to stop backing this dude up and saying “it’s okay, give him more time.” We were better last year with a shittier roster and tougher schedule.

He’s not a bad kicker but he has indisputably missed some big kicks in all our losses. I’m with you guys if we weren’t so bad offensively he wouldn’t have had to kick in the first place. The offense and our coaching are the main factors in everything wrong with this team.
