I’ve been thinking the same thing. An offensive minded head coach can help make up for a lack of talent but it’s hard for a defensive guy to make up for a lack of talent.

And offensive coordinators are a lot easier to be poached. But If he’s a good coach and can build a program, then I’ll gladly take him.

Sumrall is a cocky winner. That's what I like about him. Guys that are cocky like that want to back it up and it's the hallmark attitude of a good coach.

BUT IS HE AN OLE MISS MAN?!?! That’s the real question we should be asking.

Seriously though, what’s this post on the CC board about the USM coach? First I’ve heard that name.

Xs and Os are not the most important thing for a head coach anymore. He has so much to do in terms of program building and management that he has a limited time to scheme.

Yeah definitely. But it absolutely helps to have a solid offensive X’s and O’s guy at a program that hasn’t been able to pull in 5* offensive linemen.

They are trolling. He would literally be our 10th or 11th choice

From what everyone says, he has modeled how he approaches it like Lane. But I haven't kept up with his recruiting.

Give me Kingsbury, Dilly, or Riley.

No defensive guys. Golding isn't leaving and I’d like to keep continuity on offense instead of replacing an OC if/when they’re poached.

Can we hope if Lane does jump ship he will carry Weis Jr with him and his trick plays?

Oh, I’m aware who I’d like doesn’t mesh with reality.

I fully believe those plays are Lane. CWJr is the “run the ball up the middle twice and then jet sweep third down” level of autism.

Riley isn’t coming, Dilly might be a possibility if we give him enough money and NIL commitment. I think we should make Dilly say no and then go after Eric Morris.

Summrall has been my first thought, but I am coming around to making Dillingham tell us no. Especially if Golding wants to stay. He has already played MSU twice so he’s ready for the egg bowl

100% agree on making Dilly say no. But that's going to be a quick conversation

Maybe.

Yes, he is an ASU guy but if all the hot coaches at their Alma mater (Key, Lea, Dilly) ASU will have the least support. They may have a large alumni base but they are completely apathetic about football.
