How are they going to enforce that on football Saturday?

School is different from city for grove and stadium but the influx of ppl is going to make it impossible to inforce. It’s on a week by week basis but it’s so stupid. I live here and I don’t know anyone who voted for her. fricking clowns

Streamed the aldermen meeting and one of them was way more outspoken than others basically saying , “ well we have to do something, we can’t just do nothing”

Except they didn’t limit restaurant/bar capacity, not sure what this mandate will accomplish other than some virtue signal points .

They’re gonna vote on it weekly apparently but Robin was advocating wearing a mask for 3 weeks to re-flatten the curve a couple weeks ago so this will probably go up til Christmas knowing this sissy group of aldermen

The police chief came up and said they had almost 3,000 complains last year of people not complying with mask mandates and how many calls they had in total and how they couldn’t answer a call to Kroger and hunt down a mask less person , it wasn’t feasible and even Robin agreed with that

Makes sense to do this while we are on the downside of this wave. Cases and hospitalizations will soon be plummeting. Appears we are already past the peak for cases. Virtue signaling at its finest. This mandate will accomplish nothing.

Government action in a nutshell. Gotta make it look like we care even if it does absolutely nothing to help the actual problem.

I still don’t think they will have mask mandates in the stadium or any of that crap. Good luck getting the already underpaid rent a cops to enforce it in a full stadium. They had a hard enough time doing it at 25% capacity. The Karens that will complain about people not wearing a mask most likely won’t go to games at full capacity. And people that are gonna go to a full grove/stadium are over this shite and have probably had the vaccine if they want it.

Of course not. The city needs those tax dollars.

I like the rt statistic as much as the next guy, but we aren't on the downside of the wave. We are arguably not even at the crest yet. Miss. Dept. of Health hospitalizations chart

In terms of cases I believe we are. Hospitalizations and deaths will lag so you won't see a reduction until some time later.

Be interested to see how the hospital numbers look this afternoon when they release them. Hope the numbers start plateauing later this week.

This will cause an uproar. WTVA will have a report. It's an issue that will be debated for the foreseeable future. I hope residents and students handle this accordingly.

My guess is we will be back to “normal” mid 2022 if not later. The vaccine will expedite the process.

From what I remember....The Grove is County Property. The Ole Miss campus is it's own municipality of sort..

City ordinances aren't enforceable on campus property.

So when are they going to “listen to the science”. Unless you have a legit N-95 it’s like using a chain link tense to hold back mosquitoes

It’s never been about science here to the aldermen, none of which have any science backgrounds, only about if it makes people feel safe , hence the masks.
