City ordinances aren't enforceable on campus property.

We're a separate entity, hence why Ole Miss' address is "University" and has a separate zip code. The university will act in tandem sometimes with the city, but there is no requirement that we do. We've had a mask mandate on campus since at least last week for instance. IHL can tell us what to do, but Oxford can't.

Someone just texted me that there is/was a fire at the football stadium. Any details?

Here is the bottom line. As long as our hospitals are overflowing with sick and dying people our elected officials, who are responsible for keeping us safe, will continue to scramble to figure out how to limit the damage.

Some positive news. We have now seen a reduction in Covid hospitalizations 4 days straight now. I expect the numbers to keep falling.

We are past the peak now. Cases for today are down by around 1,000 when compared to last Friday. When you look at Thursday's numbers, cases yesterday were down by around 1,400 when compared to last Thursday.

Disagreeing with a doctor is beyond stupid.

I personally know at least a handful of doctors who are utter morons. And I would posture that blindly agreeing with someone just because that person has an advanced degree would actually make you the stupid one in the conversation.

And it's really not agreeing with a doctor. It's more like agreeing with a politician. Half the politicians I know are egomaniacs who have failed at every real job they ever had. I've never known a person I admired to chose to be a politician after they've had success at everything else. Quite the opposite actually.

You are absolutely correct. A politician's opinion on medical issues is pretty close to useless. I don't care what Biden, Trump, Tom Brady, Kim Kardashian, etc. think about the spread of infectious disease or vaccine efficacy. My family and I take medical advice from our doctor. If we need a second opinion the American Medical Assoc., Center for Disease Control, National Institute of Health, etc. make it pretty easy to find their thoughts on the current situation.

I didn't wear my mask this morning in Kroger there were a couple other people in there who didn't (a couple people took their mask off when they saw me or others didn't have it on) and no one told me to wear it either. I expect less & less people are going to end up wearing them & this mandate is going to end up being a lot less followed.

I don't wear one anymore than necessary, but I guess I felt it this morning in Walmart. Just something about that place.

We are actually way down the backside of the wave. It's already halfway down from the peak of cases... and who cares about case numbers anyway?

I guess these elected officials paid close attention to the surge of Delta variant in Great Britain or Israel and were ahead of this…..Plus we all know that using a chain link fence to hold back mosquitoes is highly effective!

I suspect that these elected officials know about as much as I do on the subject of community spread of infectious disease. I would hope that they are doing like I do and base their decisions on the guidance of the people who have dedicated their lives to researching this kind of subject.

Yeah, man. I'm so glad Fauci and company are running the ship right now. There is definitely not any sort of political angle they are working. But trust the experts, the same ones who want to give your child a vaccine and have them wear a mask all day.

All I'm saying is that I get my medical advice from people who are qualified to give medical advice. I suggest you do the same. If you choose to take medical advice from another source then god bless you and good luck.

It's not being enforced. I was in the Square on Saturday evening, picking up food, and it was packed - hardly anyone was wearing a mask (except for employees in the restaurants).

There's a reason we're still getting 1,000+ new cases each day. I buried my cousin a couple weeks ago who died from it. When you see businesses shutting down again, and venues restricting capacity, at least the folks here can be happy about not wearing a mask while they take horse dewormer.

I don’t think you are fluent in sarcasm. So you are going to trust the guys that said Oxycotin wasn’t addictive? You are going to trust a guy like Faucci even though has flipped over more than a $2 whore in Bangkok? Gotcha!

True cases have been much higher than that. Some days this month we have likely had around 15,000 true infections per day.

Recent estimates show that around 67% of Mississippians have had Covid now.
