Our biggest thing with Bianco is that he hasn’t progressed since he finally broke through to the CWS. Since then, the closest we have been was in 2019 against Arkansas in the super regional - we were out scored 25-3 in the two games we lost and 30-16 total in the series.
This season was a “show me” type of year. We knew we had some of the best talent in the entire country before the year, so the onus was on Bianco to put it together and return to the CWS.
If the postseason ended today, I think we can all agree that making the CWS wouldn’t be likely. If Bianco can’t take a team as talented as the one we have this year (disclaimer - we have had more talented teams than this) and get back to the big one, when will he?
I'll never say Omaha or Bust because it takes a TON of luck to get there. But there's no reason whatsoever we should be traveling to anyone's regional.
I've defended Bianco for many years. I don't know if I'm officially on the Fire MB train but I can't honestly argue against it.

I'm hearing buzz from Baton Rouge that LSU is looking to drop Mainieri and wants Bianco.

The Bianco talk is just a smoke screen. There is always a smoke screen candidate when a big program fires up a coaching search. Mike is plan C or D. The question is, does Florida kick the tires with Bianco’s agent if Sully goes to BR ? Mike’s been pulling big time talent out of the state of FL for years so he already has the inroads recruiting. Kevin O doesn’t really come across as all that warm of a guy. Bianco has always been fantastic with the baseball camps, kissing babies , hugging grannies that are season ticket holders , etc. He’s shown that he can rally fan support around a program and that’s all the Gators need at this point. Everything else is already in place.

Bianco is a hot commodity. He’s one of the best coaches in the league, let alone the country. It will be interesting to see what happens with him if a bigger program comes calling, considering how long he has been here.

Bianco pushed all the right buttons today. Calvin Harris made that one fielding mistake but his 2 run bomb was huge. The frosh Dougherty got the job done for 4 innings while we built up our lead. Moving Gonzalez to leadoff, leaving Chatagnier in the 2 hole and starting Leatherwood over Plumlee. Bringing Doug in with the bases loaded.
We beat a really really good Southern Miss team. I see why so many people were picking them as a team that could make a run to Omaha. John Cohen made damn sure they weren’t the 2 seed in Starkville.

I have to agree that Bianco is a smoke screen. I think Bianco has fond memories of LSU but he is ole miss baseball. He’s not going to do that to ole miss.
Personally still think we make McDonnell say no but apparently he likes UL more than I originally thought

I’d take my chances. The commitment is there and that said commitment is way smaller than what it takes for football and basketball. OM has facilities etc. Bianco looks strong now at the moment and overall an above average HC but almost 20 years at 1 school and only1 trip to Omaha is less than Dean Smith like success.

I'd rather get an up and comer with no history, at least it looked like we were trying to better ourselves
