I think we have to win 5 of our last 7 games go host. Which is highly unlikely of course. But I don't mind being a 2 seed in the Carolinas or something. Probably a fair outcome.

Has 17-13 in the SEC ever not hosted? Feels like 4 wins to host. 2 wins to lock a 2 seed. 1 win to lock a tourney spot.

Massive IF but I feel like if we got to that point, this is where playing Missouri hurts us. Gifted 3 conference wins over a complete joke is a massive advantage and inflates our conference record .
Not sure if I were the committee I would reward the program with a host in this scenario

I agree.
Really we haven’t earned a host spot in my opinion. So consistently inconsistent.
We do have a solid rpi hanks to the conference we play in that lifts all boats but we still only have the one conference series win over a team with a winning record ( Vandy)
Playing state in Starkville next weekend is their absolute Super Bowl . They get to play spoiler to whatever host dream this team may conjure up. They’ve got nothing to lose with no coach. Very very dangerous

17-13 in the SEC is a Host. Especially considering the size of our facility and the way the crowd will look on TV. All things being equal, we get the nod over Wake or Eastern Carolina similar program that seats 2500.

17-13 would put us as a borderline host. I think MSU was 17-13 last year and ended up as a 2 seed so it won't be automatic.
I wouldn't focus on hosting because next weekend could be ugly.

Interesting, I forgot their sec record was that good. Looks like they were only 13-10 OOC including 0-3 against Austin Peay and Central Arkansas. We are 19-5 pending the last OOC game with only bad losses against UALR and USA. Feels like our opening weekend wins against ranked non-con teams plus splitting with USM should help us.

We’ve all seen this movie before. The real knife in the gut is going to be extending Bianco after all that goes down.

I sincerely hope neither happens.

I like how we've improved from the past two seasons but for whatever reason, this has been a very unenjoyable baseball season. I think it's because we used to be a contender and now we are playing catchup to teams like Auburn and Tennessee, who have had shitty baseball programs for a very long time.

If we can beat state we could have momentum but there’s zero confidence that will transpire

There’s been no consistency. No bigtime sweeps or momentum
Random no show weekends ( at South Carolina) and even more random midweek loses ( Little Rock)
They never have really gotten on a streak at all against teams that matter
It’s been a weird roller coaster with not very high highs.
And we have 1 series win against a team with a winning conference record this season.

Teams in this conference have always had their up and down seasons(outside of LSU, really). Bianco's main benefit(this is pre-natty) is that we ALWAYS remained a constant 30+win team. We were typically fighting between hosting a regional and being a national seed most of the years with a down year being a 2/3 seed. Stellar pitching was also ALWAYS a mark of a Bianco team.
We've just had a massive fallback in both since 2021.

Convinced Neal or chase reads this board as this was the main topic of their podcast today

1-3 against winning teams isn’t ideal, but we were 1 out from being 2-2 and not that far from being 3-1. Small sample size. And again, 3-2 against ranked OOC teams.
We aren’t top 8 in any universe, but have the pieces to host or ruin someone else’s regional on the right weekend.

Horseshoes an' hand grenades an' shite.

Right, I’m just saying in a sample size that small it’s fair to account for more than just the raw record.
