I think this was posted from Neal but apparently Lane held a team meeting to clarify things from the last 24 hours. Neal obviously wasn't there but had heard through others Lane told the players to ignore the media garbage and that nothing has changed as of yet. Said the team will hear the news straight from him and not from the media.

IMO the fact that he's holding a meeting like this says he hasn't already started packing his bags.

So, why not, in this team meeting, go on and tell them that he’s staying if he’s staying?

So instead he has a meeting to then say. Look there will be another meeting and I will tell you then?

That’s fricked up to me. I just do not get why you would be so fluid about it all .

Regardless of his decision, he's damaged his reputation with us or in the future with Auburn already. Letting those rumors run rampant last week probably costed us the Arkansas game...

None of this has been handled properly but I'm just hoping he's trying to get the players back focused on MSU. It's a better sign for me there's a chance of him staying then if he just let the players stay fully distracted.

I wish Auburn would just go ahead and offer instead of waiting until Friday. That part makes no sense at all.

agreed. He's a week too late on this. Even if he does stay....there won't be too much excitement next season knowing we're going to be going through this shite again.

To me, I view it as even worse

They go to this meeting thinking ok he’s gonna tell us one way or another right now.

Then it doesn’t happen. So nothing changed and the team still doesn’t know if their coach is bailing on them in days

No way the team can focus on the egg bowl.

We don't know what was said in this meeting. It could have been something that impacted the players positively, negatively or anywhere in-between. What do we have 110 players on our roster? How many of those will still be there next year regardless of who the coach is. Probably the vast majority at the very least. Just playing devil's advocate here.

Anyone with any common sense knew this would be our life as long as Lane had any success here. Even if he is 100% happy he would ALWAYS be the talk of any bigger job opening.

No different than what State went through with Mullen for all those years.

That’s one perspective. Another may be that this will always be Ole Miss’ reality when we have a successful coach. Ride the wave, bud.

I understand that....but imagine being a recruit or parent and listening to Kiffin try to sell you on spending 4 years at Ole Miss.

Obviously I hope he stays and builds the program for at least another season....but I'm just want some stability.

as I stated earlier today.....we haven't had a senior honored by the same coach who recruited him since Brewer.

Cutcliffe had plenty of seniors get recruited by him and graduate with him as their coach

We are wearing traditional navy, navy, gray tomorrow night.

The last time we wore this combination in the Egg Bowl was 2010.

Interesting.

For the amount of money we are throwing kiffin’s way I want a coach that wants to be here. Kiffin isn’t worth this level of drama without total buy in.

I want him to stay but not if he is going to drag us through this every season. It’s already costing us wins.

Surprised you refrained from uttering his name.
