Had one of my buddies text me earlier. He thinks we have Norvell. He has some connections in the program but I would still take it with a grain of salt
ETA: if Norvell is our guy I wouldn't expect it to be official until next week after Memphis plays in the AAC championship

Can someone explain the hype behind Napier? I wiki'd him and I don't think his sample size as a coach is big enough to make a good judgement call on.

Let me throw this question out there.
If we miss on Norvell and Napier (very unlikely at this point) how would you all feel about Jay Hopson? He's done a pretty damn good job at Southern and is an alum

Don't really see what's impressive with Hopson. He's coached 4 years at Southern Miss, they won 7, 8, 6, and 7 games and he hasn't finished higher than 3rd in their division. I'd like to hire somebody that's performing at a pretty high level where they're at. Winning 10+ games and competing for conference championships..

This is what I absolutely do not understand. Why in the wide wide world of sports would we fire our coach on a Sunday night, without giving yourself a week to line up another coach and know who you're getting?
We fired Cutcliffe without having anyone lined up and ended up with about our 7th choice after everyone turned us down. That should have taught us. I just don't understand the sequence of events here.
