Yeah that's the vibe I've gotten too.

Bill Clark or Hugh Freeze would he good too. I prefer Clark over the other 2.

We did the freeze thing and need to just move on.

If we hired Freeze then the Rant would meltdown for a week
If we don't hire Norvell, go after Napier. If he says no, go after Clark. If he says no, then we should get on our knees and beg Freeze to come back.
ETA: A dark horse that nobody is talking about (at least not that I've seen) is Dave Aranda. I know his defense has been a little suspect this year but I wouldn't be entirely upset with that hire.

quote:This is more than likely the course of action. With Kiffin looking to be the frontrunner at Arkansas, I think it's all dependent of what Florida State does. From reading their boards, they don't seem too high on Norvell and it looks like Franklin/Campbell/Rhule are the names. If it comes down to it, I think Norvell would choose Oxford over Missouri.

As long as there is another head coach in place I’d be okay with most of the current assistants staying on the new staff. The only assistant that absolutely has to go is Rich Rod.

No, let's allow the new HC to decide who to hire, fire, or bring with him.

Nah. Clean house. Let the new guy do what he needs and wants to do. I would never take the job as a CEO of a multimillion dollar company and be told that I have to retain my predecessor's staff that knew nothing but losses.

Too bad we didn't have the chance to hire norvell instead of Luke in 2017. Wait ...

The rumor is that Fla St. has offered Norvell 6/33mm. That's obviously 5.5 so Ole Miss is going to have to get to the 6 range, which isn't possible and would probably be counter-bid even if the administration could make it happen.
Billy Napier is the new HC at The University of Mississippi.

I know Norvell has been impressive at Memphis, but 5.5 mm starting out? Hard to see our administration approving that much. Of course, they were paying Matt Luke more than double what he was worth, so there's that.

Neal is saying Kiffin prefers Ole Miss to Arkansas and wants the job "bad".

What if you were taking over a used tire shop that was on fire in BFE?

Well let's make Kiffin a reality. Since Norvell is apparently not happening, only Kiffin could rile the fan base back up. Anything other than Kiffin (or Leach, sort of) falls flat, IMO.
