I've heard a lot of chatter about taking over Davis-Wade on Thanksgiving. I'm actually thinking of going. It would be awesome if we got 30k down there and game the team a home crowd. Tickets are only like $28. Their fans aren't going to go. They haven't been to games all season.

Our fanbase just needs to chill on the whole Kiffin job thing. Just support the team and don't act like an overly possessive girlfriend. You have a coach that people want. That's a good thing. We've already shown that we will fight. Carter and the administration have shown they will fight. Kiffin's own family has shown that they want to stay here.

If he goes, that's on him. We are in a really good place and could hire a damn good replacement.

I still say our own fanbase blew last year up more than it actually was.

When it affects the team’s performance like it did at the end of last year, it’s completely justified getting upset. We lost the Egg Bowl because of it. No way we lose that game if the team is focused

That might be true, but the flipside is definitely true too: a lot of loyalty is expected when we’re paying him as much as we are.

Loyalty only goes as far as the dollar. That goes for players, coaches, and as well as the both of us. If “loyalty” was a thing, then we would have had to pay Luke $4 million to coach us.

This goes with my point though. The media and fans are the ones who kept pushing it until it became the distraction. Kiffin long ago said that he does not speak about contracts or vacancies until after the season. Was Sexton working behind the scenes? I’m sure of it…..but that’s also his job.

All nine million of them.

I’m thought the gripes from the fanbase were justified. We had just given him a 60% fricking raise and then he holds us out for another 28% and threatens to leave for a division rival as our season crumbles and LSU and Arkansas beat the ever loving piss out of us? Get fukt man. You ain’t bigger than the program. If you want top ten $$$$ we better win top ten games and not get crushed by a 7-6 Arkansas team.

Yes, it’s that black and white to me.

Kiffin could’ve call his dog Sexton off if he wanted, but he didn’t, because he wanted more money and/or to jump ship. He had the situation firmly in his control.

However, I will say pank is correct that it wouldn’t have mattered what Kiffin said about the Auburn rumors. People were still going to speculate nonetheless.

Unfortunately, Kiffin burned up some goodwill with the fanbase last fall. He won’t get the benefit of the doubt from many the next go round.

I couldn’t make it back all year, but I’ll be back for Thanksgiving and we’re heading over. Hate that my sons first Rebel game is in Starkville, but it’s never too early to show him State fans in their natural habitat.

For sure. I'm not saying he holds no responsibility. But the distractions absolutely became amplified by fans and sports media. And that goes for opposing as well as our own. It's not like the pros where the athletes rarely come into contact with the fans. They sit next to them in class every day. You can only listen to "hey man is Kiffin going to Auburn?" "Hey man I heard Kiffin is leaving" so much before it's all you can think about.

And you can't only blame Kiffin for getting that extra pay raise. He didn't write the contract and sign both lines. I'll never blame anyone for getting the most money they possibly can. I can't say that I'd turn it down given the situation.

I think he'd certainly be eligible for the redshirt. Wade and Watkins having strong years probably delayed play time. WR room was kinda out of sorts this year with Marshall getting booted early, Z. Franklin contributing nothing, and the off and on injuries to the others.

This shite again? We are about to achieve our second 10 win regular season (both under Kiffin) in school history. The man is worth the money. His no comment stance on coaching changes is dumb (see Mike Elko statement for how you do it), but other than that, the results are pretty damn good. I would hate to be in State's place right now.

His "no comments" stance is frustrating, but it's not any worse than giving a pine box statement

I can, and do, blame Kiffin for not instructing Sexton to cool off the flirtation with Auburn.

I agree he is worth the $9,000,000/year when we are winning, but when we aren't, he sure as hell isn't.

I’m fully on board with this. It doesn’t hurt near as bad this year as we are staring 10-2 in the face.
